The Colonial Trade.—The Halifax Royal
Gazette contains a long Order of the British
Council, reciting tho principal acts of parlia
ment and orders of council for regulating the
trade between die colonies of foreign countries,
and declaring what foreign powers have fulfil-
ed the conditions by which they are entitled to
the privileges- of trade granted by tho act of
1825. The Governments of II mover, Swe
den and Norway, Oldenbiirgh, Lubcc, Bremen
and Hamburgh, Colombia, Rio do la Plata and
Mexico, are declared to have complied with all
the conditions of the act of 1825, and ships of
thoso countries, and of Russia are permitted to

Treaty of Ghent.—The commissioners for

"that the aforesaid commissions have amicably

of ahum 5000 votes. The number of votes
polled, are stated to be 8000 more that} at uny
former election, which has given riso to sen
ous charges of corruption and false voting. On
tho opening.the polls the first day, tho whole
number of votes expected to be' taken was a-
bout 14,000; on tho close of the polls the se
cond day, it was believed they would amount to
17,000; bat it was left to the close of tho third
