John SI. Berrien tendered Iiis resignation ns attor

presses his full approbation of Mr Berrien's public
conduct, nntl that nothing except the necessity of re
organizing the cabinet, could induce him lo accept
tlie resignation ofthe attorney general. Judging from
tlie correspondence, Mr Berrien and the President
parted on terms of civility and good will.
