I will hero remark, that this lime has been tested
by some of the best judges and mechanics of our
country, nnd found to he good. The only objection
to tlic lime is, it being u shade or two darker than
the Northern lime; but independent of.this, for brick
wort., inner coats of plastering, tunueries, cement
aiid durability, it is inferior to none. Annexed is a
certificate from (he two principal workmen in Macon,
who have been in the habit, for the Inst three years,
of using the same,'which will show for itself. I could
furnish many more, but deem it unnecessary, irom the
known standing of those gentlemen as masons in this
section of the uountry; which tdois a sufficient warran
tee against any imposition upon the public. It is
true the prejudices agidnst the lime of this country,
did, to a considerable extent, operate aguiust the lime
of Crawford county; and it was with much difficulty
those prejudices have been removed, which, for some
lime, kept the latter lime out of the market. Still,
there is yet some in existence, which I hope to do n-
way, and atrial is only wanted to remove it. The
demand has increased and continues to increase,
which is u convincing proof of its genuineness. Ex
periment find experioucirhave, so far ns it has been tri
ed, proved it equal to the Northern lime, when in un
unslakcd stale. I will further add, that I have iio de
sign upon the comrauiiity in which I live or upon Ihe
public. But having for my object, a wish to moke
a business of it, should it justify me in so doing, and
holding the only quarry in' this immediate scctiou of
country, are my reasons for this exposition! For a
further proof ol ray motives, take tho article, and try
it;, and if it does not come up to the recommcndu-
tiou. I will have nothing for it. [Here follows tho
certificate:]
Wo have been in-the habit of using Mr. Joseph
Benxett's Lime, burnt in Crawford county, and find
it ns good as any wo have for use in this place, cither
for brick work or plastering, when it is in an unslnk-
ed state. Tho only difference between that and tho
Northern Lime is, that tins former is not quite as
white. DAVID F. WILSON.
