I will here rerasrk, that this lime has been tested
by some of the best judges and mechanics of our
coontry, aud found to be good. The only objection
ta tbe lime Ife, tt being a shade Or two darker than
(be Northern lime; hut independent of (hit, for brick
work, inner coats of plastering, tanneries, cement
and durability, it is inferior to none. Annexed is a
certififate from tbe two principal workmen in Macon,
wfao have been in Ilia habit, for the.last three years,
of using tbe same, which wilt show for itself. I could
furnish many more, but deem it unnecessary, (rom tbe
knownetandingofthoscgentlemenas masons in Ibis
section uf the country; which tuu is a sufficient warrun-
tee against any imposition upon tbo public. It is
true the prejudices against the lime of this country,
did, to a considerable extent, operate against the lime
of Crawford county; and it was with much difficulty
those prejudices have been removed, which, fur some
time, kept the latter lime out of the market. Stilt,
(here is yet some in existence, which I hope lo do u-
way, and atrial is only wanted to remove it. The
demand has increased and continues to increase,
which is a convincing proof of its genuineness. Ex,
periment and experience have, so farasit has been tri
ed, proved itequal to the Northern lime, when in nn
uasiaked state. I will further add, that 1 have no dc.
sign upon the community in which I live or upon the
public. But having for my object, a wish to make
a business of it, shoold it justify me in su doing, and
bolding the only quarry In this Immediate section of
country, are my reasons for this exposition. For a
further proof ol my motives, take the article, and try
it; and if it does not come up to tire rccommcnda-
tion. I will have nothing for it. [Here follows the
certificate:]
We have been In’llte habit of using Mr. Joseph
Buixti’s Lime, burnt iu Crawford county, and find
it as good as any we have for use la this place, either
for brick work or plastering, when it Is in an unslak
ed state. The only difference between that and the
Northern Lime h, that the former is not quite as
white. DAVID F. WILSON.
