WE have just received some of J. Miles A Sons’ best Tipped Gaiters, Walking Shoes and Morocco Boots. Mays. SWANSON, JETT k CO. CATHARTIC PII.LS OPERATE by their powerful influence on the internal viscera to purify the blood and stimulate it into healthy action. They remove the obstructions of the stomach, bowels, liver, and other organs of the body, and, by restoring their irregular action to health, correct, wherever they exist, such derangements as are tin* first causes of disease. An extensive trial of their virtues, by Professors. Physicians and Patients, has shown euros of dangerous diseases almost bevoud belief, were they not substantiated by persons of such exalted position and character as to forbid the suspicion of untruth. Their ccrtiffcats are published in my American Al manac which the agents below named are pleas ed to furnish free to all inquiring. Annexed we give Direct loim lor their use in the complaints which they have been found to cure. For Costiveness. —Take one or two Pills, or such quantity as to gontlv move the bowels. Costiveness is frequently the aggravating cause of Piles, and the cute of one complaint is the cure of both. No person can feel well while under a costive habit of body, lienee it should be. as it can be, promptly relieved. For Dyspepsia, winch* is .sometime the cause of (Arttioerbt.dt, and always uncomfortable, take mild doses—from one to four -to stimulate the stomach and liver into healthy action. They will do it., and the heartburn, hodyburn and soul burn, of dyspepsia will rapidly disappear. When it has gone, don’t forget what cured von. For a Fool Stomach, or Morbid Inaction of the Bawds, which pro luces general depression of the spirits and bad health, take from four to eight Pills at first, and smaller doses afterwards, until activity aud strength is restored to tlie system. For Nervousness, Sick Headache, Nausea, Pain in the Stomach, Back, or Side, take from four to eight Pill s on going tubed, if they do not operate sufficiently, take more the next day until they do. These complaints will be swept out from the system. Don’t wear these and their kindred disorders because your stomach is foul. For Scrofula, Erysipelas, and all Diseases of the Skin, take the Pills freely and frequently, to keen the bowels open. The eruptions will gen erally soon begin to diminish and disappear. Many dreadful ulcers and sores have been healed up by the purging a id purifying effect of these Pills, and some disg isting diseases which seemed to saturate the whole system, have completely yielded to their influence, leaving the sufferer in health. Patients! your duty to society irbids that you should parade yourself around tho world, covered with pi nplos, blotches, ul cers, sores, and all or any of the unclean dis eases of tho skin, because your system wants cleansing. To Purify the Blood, they are the best medi ciue ever discovered. Thev should be taken freely and frequently, and the impurities which sow the seeds of incurable diseases will be swept out ol tho system like chaff before the wind, liy this property they do as much good in prevent ing suSkucss as by the remarkable cures which they are making everywhere. Liver Complaint, Jaundice, and all Bilious Afe ctions arise from some derangement—either torpidity, congestion, or obstruction of the Liver. Torpidity anil congestion vitiate the bile, and rsnder it unlit for digestion. This is disastrous to the health, and the constitution is frequently uudermined bv no other cause. Indigestion is the symptom. Obstruction of the duet which mopties the bile into the stomach causes the bile to verflow into the blood. This produces jaun dice, with a long and dangerous train of evils. Costiveuess, or altern itelv costiveness and diarr rhoea, prevails. Feverish symptoms, languor, low spirits, weariness, restlessness, and melan choly, with sometimes inability tvi sleep, and sometimes great drowsiness; sometimes there is severe pain in the side; the skin and the white of the eyes become a greenish yellow; the stom ach acid; the bowels sore to the touch; the whole system irritable, with a tendency to fever, which may turn to bilious fever, bilious colic, bilious diarrhoea, dyseutery, Ac. A medium dose of three or four Pills taken at night, follow ed by two or three in the morning, aud repeated a few* days, will remove the cause of all these troubles. It is wicked to suffer such pains when you can cure them for 25 cents. Rheumatism, (Jout, and all Inflammatory Fe ver t, are rapidly cured bv the purifying effects of these Pills upon the bfood, and the stimulus which they afford to the vital nriuuple of lile. For these aud all kindred complaints, they should be taken in mild doses, to move the* bowels gently, but freely. «Asa Disseb Fill, this is both agreeable and useful No Fill cau be made more pleasant to take, aud certainly none has been made more effectual to tbe purpose for which a dinner pill is employed. SOMETHING FOR TIIE MILLION!!» WE call the attention of all, old and young, to this wonderful preparation, which turns back to its original color grey hair—covers the headjpf the bald with a luxuriant growth—re moves the dandruff, itching, and all cutaneous eruptions—causes a continual flow of the natural fluids; and lienee, if used as a regular dressing f«*r the hair, will preserve its color, and keep it from falling to extreme old age, in all its beauty. We call, then, upon the bald, the gray, or dis eased in scalp, to use it; and surely, the young will not, as they value the flowing locks, or the witching curls, ever be without it. Its praise is upon the tongue of thousands. WaterfoM Mass., July 25, 1855. Prof. 0. J. Wood —With confidence do 1 re commend your Hair Restorative, as being the most efficacious article I ever saw. I have used the Walphcne and other preparations of the day, all without effect. Since using your Hair Resto rative, my hair and whiskers, which Wire almost white, have gradually grown dark; and I now feel confident, that a few more applications will restore them to their natural color. It also has relieved me of all dandruff* and unpleasant itch ing, so common among persons who perspire free ly. J. G. KILBY. North Fast Pennsylvania, March 2, 1855. Sir -In consequence of having liair, for seve ral years past, not only gray, but perfectly white, 1 have cut if short, and worn caps to hide it from view; but some three months since I was induced to use your Hair Restorative, and I must in jus tice sav, that its effects were almost miraculous; for it lias changed it gradually to almost its for mer splendor as to color, awl left it so soft and glossy as to be more beautiful than it ever was, when under the influence of the finest oil. I ear nestly, therefore, recommend it to every lady as decidedly the best preparation for toilet use, of anything in the world. BETSY SMITH. Prof. Wood—Having experienced the magic effect of your Ilair Restorative, I drop you this upon the subject. About two years ago, my hair commenced falling off and turning gray; l was fast becoming bald. 1 met a friend who had used your Restorative, and spoke so highly of its vir tues, 1 was induced to try it, although I had but little faith, as 1 had before tried so many other remedies. 1 commenced using your Restorative in January last. A lew applications fastened my hair firmly. It began to fill up, grow out, and turned back so its former color, (black.) At this time it is fully restored to its original color, health and appearance, and I cheerfully recommend its use to all. J. D. ILOE.S. Chicago, 111., May 1, 1854. Milford, Worcester co. Mass., Nov. 13,1854. Prof. 0. J. Wood Dear Sir: 1 take pleasure in.bearing voluntary testimony to the magic ef fects of your wonderful liair Restorative. As fur back as 1886, my hair commenced falling off, until the top of my scalp became bald and smooth as glass, and it has continued to fall for a great many years, notwithstanding I have used many celebrated preparations for its restoration. See ing your advertisement, I was induced to give your article atrial, and, to my utter astonish -1 incut, J found, after a few applications, that my J hair became firmly set, and assumed a glossy • and beautiful appearance; and by (lie time I had used a quart bottle, my bald head was covered over with a young ami vigorous growth of hair which is now from one to two inches in length and growing fast. Yours, truly, HENRY GOODRICH. iW.iv York, Oct. 2, 1854 Prof. 0. J. Wood Dear Sir: After reading the advertisement in one of the New York jour nals, of your celebrated liair Restorative, l pro cured a li>ilt-piut bottle, and was so much pleased with it, that! continued its use for two months, and am satisfied it is decidedly the best prepara tion before the public. It at once removed all dandruff and unpleasant itching from the scalp, and has restored toy hair naturally, and, 1 have no doubt, permanently so. You have permission to refer to me, all who entertain any doubt ol‘ its performing all that is claimed for it. MISS PEEKS, 20 1-2 Greenwich Avenue, I have used Professor O. J. Wood’s Hair Res torative, and have admired its wonderful effects, it restored my hair where it had fallen off; it. cleans the head, and renders the hair soft and smooth- much more so than oil. DAY’S MAGICAL CLEANSER is the best preparation now known for removing PAINT, TAR, TURPENTINE, VARNISH, Or Crease Spots (f every sort err size, from all kinds of Cotton, Woolen, Silk or Velvet cloth, without injuring the color or texture of the goods. Numerous erasive preparations have been offer ed to the public, but there are serious objections to all of them. Some merely drive the objection able substance From the surface into the cloth, and it soon appears again; others extract it but at. the same time either destroy the texture or the color. None of them propose to remove Paint or Var nish after they have had time to become thorough ly dry. This preparation is warranted not to af fect the color of anything which will bear wash ing in soap and water, and will remove old Paint, Varnish and Turpentine as well as fresh. It is particularly adapted to the cure of Summer Coinplaint, Cholera Infantum, Teething Diarrhoea, and similar Diseases of Children, it being very pleasant to take and mild in its oper ation. This Remedy was used with perfect success by Dr. Appleby, the original Proprietor, during a ten years residence on the coast of Western Africa, where Cholera, Diarrhoea, and Dysentery, in their most aggravated forms prevail and have ever proved so fatal to European residents. Since his return he has made constant use of it in his prac tice, and has never known it to fail in Dysentery and Diarrhoea, when taken according to direc tions. In the mines of California, where many fall victims to the Diarrhoea and Dysentery so fa tal among the miners in that country, it has been used with eminent success, and has never been known to fail in giving speedy and permanent re lief. One letter from the mines says: “When all other medicines used here have failed, the Di arrhoea Specific works like a charm.” Another says of it: 44 The Specific has proved effectual in every case in which l have kuown it ustd: two or three doses being sometimes sufficient to effect a cure.” We have many certificates of the per manent cure of Chronic Affections of the Stom ach and Bowels by this remedy, in which all oth ers had failed. It is unsurpassed in the cure of many dis eases peculiar to females. The Medicine is now prepared under the direc tion of one of the first Chemists aud Physicians in Massachusetts.
