J hey contain European advices somewhat later
than have heretofore come to hand ; but no
thing of any consequence, excepting the 67th
and 68th bulletins ofthe Flench army, and the
English official account ofthe captute cl iVlon

Philadelphia, received by artivals fn in i mope,
respecting the expected battle between the
French and Russian forces, but they have a
a very questionable shape. The accounts from
liainbu’.gh, under Salem head, aie considered
equally as late as the date of these reports,
and make no othc mention of such a thing
than that both parties were making the most
vigorous preparations for it.

ARRIVAL 07 GI N. WILKINSON.
By the following article, which wecopv from
the Virginia Argus ofthe 13th instant, received
! by last evening’s mail, it appears, that general
•j Wilkinson wnl at end the trial of colonel Burr,
; at Richmond, notwithstanding he appteben
■j sions entertained by many to the contrary :
“ The news that general Wilkinson had ar
rived at Hampton and may immediately be ex
pected at this place, which was received bv an
i express on Thursday evening, must be a sub
| ject of great jnj to the federalists and Bundles,
j T hey are now relieved from the vexa i.j>i they
; have so often expressed at the prospect of his
t failing to appear; by which fbiiuie, they said
j he would escape the penetrating eye of colonel
i Burr, and the shame of being publicly exposed
ias a false wi ness. We congratulate them
therefore upon the pleasure they aie about to
receive from finding their arch enemy Wilkin
son fairly caught in the toils, at a distance from
! Ncw-Orleans—the scene, (as they have called
it) of his tyrannies, usurpations, and oppres
sions—which place he Ims (contrary to their
expectations) had the temerity to forsake; and
. the audacity to couie hither boldly to confront
, his enemies 1”
j The inconsistent parts certain characters are
now acting at Richmond, deserve the severest
censure of all honest n.en, be they of whatever
political sect they may When the then Vice-
President killed Hamilton, these men, who
. now entertain Aaron Burr so hospitably, were
i bis most inveterate i .es — but, forsooth, as soon
as he is suspected of being a traitor to the A
j met ican republic, he becomes their idol. From
j the ‘•'•dark designing villain” “ ‘he murderer “
] and every other chat actor that has baseness
| attached ton, he is changed to the “/ v-rsecutid ,
: the innocent victim of a military dee/iot.” And
’ the design of this farce is merely for the vain
purpose of throwing odium on the government
to which they are indebted for the blessings
they enjoy.— Vir. Ah rrunj.
