And whereas, as it was naturally to Be expected, that the exterior relations of a Government thus emanating from the noblest emotions of the human heart, having Peace for its object and Liberty foi its end, should be marked by a sacred'and undeviating adber dice to there great and unalterable j principles of Justice, by which men, whether individually or collectively, ’ are bound to their fellow-men—So it has happend, that these U. States iu their intercourse with foreign nations, have uniformly pursued u conduct highly honorable to themsives, and hi therto satisfactory to those with whom they have been connected. Resolved, That from l< is moment every Citizen of Savannah considers himself entirely at the disposal of the Government, prepared to submit to every privation—to encounter every toil—to brave every danger—and, with alacrity, to perform every duty which the Government shall enjoin Resolved, That until the pleasure of the General Government be known, the Citizens of Savannah will hold no communication with the British ships cl war within our waters, and on our coasts, and that they will brand with infamy, every person detected in vio lating this resolution. Resolved, That a Committee be ap pointed to correspond with the Inhab - itants of the Eastern Counties, to an nounce to them the measures udop’ and by us, and to recommend their con currence therein. Resolved, That these resolutions be extended to all British armed vessels which may hereafter come within our waters, untii complete satisfaction is made to the Government for this un principled on tra ge. Resolved, That the Chairman be authorized to purchase an American Ensign, and to cause the same to be transmit r< and to the keeper est he Light house, i t order to carry into effect our resolution of the 7th instant relatively to a concerted signal. Resolved, That the Commissioned Ofktcrs of the Military on the sea savannah, July h, isoa coast, be requested to hold their res pective commands in readiness, tor tin purposes contemplated by these reso lutions.
