SLOOP EXPERIMENT,
FOR PASSENGERS ONLY.
Elihu S. Bunker,
F> EGS le ave to inform his friends and the public, that
) he \vi 1, on the firft of July, commence running a
sloop, of about one hundred and ten tons burthen, be
tween the cities of NEW’-YORK and HUDSON, tor
the purpofc of carrying passengers.
Few people, who have had occaiion to take passage
up or down the Nat h River, but have experienced the
inconvenience and rifque of going on board vessels
deeply loaded and lumbered on deck ; therefore cap
tain Bunker has determined to take no freight on board
the Experiment, which will remedy that inconvenience
nd entirely do away the rifque.
The owners of this veflel, being defitous to render
the paflage as short, convenient and agreeable as pof
£ble, have not only taken care to furnifh tier with the
bell Beds, Bedding, Liquors, Piovifions, &c. but they
have been at very great expense and trouble in procur
ing materials and bui ding her on the belt conftrucrion
for failing and tor the accommodation of ladies and gen
tlemen travelling on buuness or for plealure.
The Experiment will leave New-Vork every Wed
nesday evening precisely at 6 o'clock, and Hudson
•very Sunday morning at 8 o’clock, through the sea
son
Captain Bunker having en several years engaged in
the freighting business between New-York and Hud
son, has become well acquainted with every part of the
tiver i and he hopes, by attention and punctuality, to
merit the patronage of ladies and gentlemen from the
southward, who may visit the celebrated Ballston,
Saratoga, and Lebanon Springs, or trave eis
who may have occasion to travel through the northern
flutes. The ftlortnoi’a of the paflame to El udfon when
compared with that to Albany, or any place above
Hudlon, (where the rivtr is impeded by bars, islands
Und overflows that render it mipoffible for fall failing
▼elieis to pais) he thinks will induce moft peop e who
ire acquainted with the difference, to take passage to
Hudson, where carriages or brats can at all times be
had at a moderate expenle, to convey them to Albany,
Troy, Lanlingburgh, or the Lebanon Springs, which
are about 30 mhe diffance.

THE PLANTER’S AND MARINER’S
MEDICAL COMPANION.
ON this important subject many books have been
written, which, though excellent in other lefpeet*
I have yet greately failed of their ulefulnofs to Ameri
: cans, because they treat of diseases which, exit!mg in
very different c!,mates and conftitutimis, must widely
differ from outs. The book now offered to the public
ha , therefore, the great advantage of having been writ
ten by a native American of long & fuccefrfnl practice
in these foutheni slates, & who for years pall, has turn
ed much of his attention 10 this very interelling fubjetft.
He is verylanguine that his hook will prove exit eding
ly ufeful to all families, but more cfpecialiy to thole
living in scattered neighbourhoods, wht re regnl lr me
dical attendance cannot ealily be obtained. For the
uf'c of families thus uniortunately circumllanced, the
author has prspared his PLANTER’S and MARI
NER’S MLDICAL COMPANION, whith treats,
in the moft clear and roncife manner, almoll every dij
eafe to which the human body is liable, with its name,
fymptoins, califes, legimen, cure, and means of pre
vention, ;...To which are subjoined, a treatifo on the
diseases peculiar to women and children ; and a difler
-1 tation on fttch cases as generally occur in Surgery ;
. with a Difgenfatory, (hewing h av to prepare the moft
ufelui family medicines, with their proper doses ; ami
a Didtienarv, explaining the technical terms tiled in
thiswoik With such a guide as this, a country gen
tleman may be enabled t meet a disease in the firft
; moment of its attack, and thus, where a pin Brian can
not readily be had, may be made the happy iuilrumeiß
ofprefervtng lives as valuable as dear.
