ineiits and battalions under arms at their usual
places of parade, on the --■ day ol—— ■
next, by ihe hour oi 11 o’clock ol that day, and
me hcieby ordered tu inspect and correctly as
certain the state and situation of the arms, am
munition and accoutrements ol the respective
regi ents, battalions and volunteer corps ; and
they are further ordered to make such arrange-’
nienis, that their regiments or battalions can,
on the shortest nolii e, he brought to the sup
port of the others in case of an attack, or in
caru ing the provisions of the proclamation of
the President of the United States into effect.
The ll.igadier-General enjoins—most se
riously enjoins every officer and soldier to fa
milial ise himself with his tlutv us such, and to
appear with their arms and equipments in
complete order, ready to take the field, should
it he required, in support of their country’s
rights.
On the efficiency of those means, depends
the h nor, life, liber■ y and fortune of a fiee and
independent people, whose courage and pat
riotism cannot he questioned.
Officers acting under these orders will be vi
giloin in impressing on the minds of those un
der their cont'oi, the expediency of a general
“ turn-out, n and as being indicative of their
readiness and willingness to execute, with avi
dity, the voluntary offer of their services to
their country.
