We understand that some folks are much
.displeas& with as for having stated some pret
ty things, in the last RxpuBttCAtr, about
WARREN HASTINGS. If our observations
are incorrect, why, we ask. are they not rectifi
ed through the pres»J Why assail privately
what gives him who publishes publicly no op
portunity at difence? Such conduct resembles
stabbing ia the dark. But wbst are we to think
of those who advocate the conduct of Warren
Hastings—tbe mast sacrilegious and savage
monster since the days of Nero and Caligula?
Uobespiere, See. were snow-white to him—'The
speeches of Sheridan, Fox and Burke, on his
impeachment, fully develnpe his character.—
The latter called him—the Captain General of
Iniquity! Still, we have men amongst us who
are his advocates; sod the apologists of tbe
massacre at Dartmoor—because mother Bri
tain is concerned. We have not words to ex
press our contempt which we feel for these
venal wretches.
