LOCAL MATTERS.. Daring Robberies. Friday morning last about two o’clock tbe premises of General Geo. Paul Harrison, on Joutb Broad street, between Baruard, Mont romery and West Broad streets, were enter ed and robbed of one pi.ir silver castors, one lozen silver fork 9, one dozen silver spoons, me pair silver salt cellars, and one fine Eng ish Navy Repeater ; this repeater is finer ban tbe usual make. The thieves jumped be side wall in the rear of the dwelling, en ered the back parlor, used as a dining room, lß d conveyed off the properly. Wednesday night the residence of Mr. Hios. J. Naylor, on the North side of Mar ket street, was also visited by robbers. In rhat manner an entrance was made i9 un nown } it was either by false kej’s or jump ig the fence in the rear. Mr. Naylor lo9t ne silver pitcher and four goblets, having n them the following inscription: “Pre ented to Thomas J. Naylor by his friends of ie Atlantic and Gulf Railroad;” andtwo silver oblets presented by the Savannah Volun ;e: Guards. These latter tokens of friend hip have also on them suitable inscriptions, 'he above valuables were iu the front parlor. The thieves next visited a room in the asement and robbed it of Mrs. Naylor’s lothing, the clothing of her children, and ome articles of clothing belonging to Mr. faylor ana a friend- Mr. Henry M. Myers ras also a sufferer; hi 9 trunk, which was in re back parlor, was robbed of nearly all his lothing and its other contents! On Wednesday night the store of John C. taker & Cos., corner of Congress aud Whit ter street, was broken into by displacing an on grating in the rear, and robbed of about 4,000 worth of dry goods, clothing &c. There no clue as yet to the thieves. We had the xive facts on Thursday morning, but, at the squest of Mr. Maker and the Police, have jstained from publishing them till this lorning. A Negro Shot and Mortally Wounded. .bout eight o’clock on Saturday morning ne of the U. S. Police discovered Aleck Hake, a colored man, wearing the uniform fa United States soldier; he was then pass ig on West Broad street near Bay street, .leek was hailed by the Policeman, and oi ereil to, stop; failing to comply, upon the rird summons, the Policeman tired, the shot iking effect. The injured man ran as far as ie corner of Montgomery and West Broad treets, when lie fell. He was immediately aken to the Post Hospital, Section No. 3, Savannah Hospital,) East of the Park. Upon !in examination made by Dr. G. W. Bowan, t was ascertained that the wound was severe, he ball entering about one half inch below the spinal scapula, passing entirely through the body, and also the upper lobe of lhe right lung. The ball passed out of the right breast. Assault with Intent to Murder.—Satur day afternoon last about three o’clock, Dick, a colored man, in the employ of Mr. E. Ehr lich, grocer, corner Whitaker street and Congress Lane, was sitting at a vegetable Btall near the Northeast corner of the mar ket, when M. L. Ford, a private of Cos. F, 30th Regiment Maine Volunteers, approached aim and with a knife made au attempt to cut his throat. The wound made, which was ’rom right to left across the throat, was of a iangerous nature; the left carotid artery lame near being severed, which would of sourse have caused instant death. Mr. S. A. Palish, of the market police, instantly ar ested Ford and put him in the lock up. luigical attendance was immediately pro :ured for Dick and lie is now comparatively >ut of danger. Ford is represented as a reacherous man with a malignant temper. Section No. 3, Post Hospital. —Saturday tfteruoou last one of our reporters visited tbe ibove Hospital, better known as the Savan lali Hospital, situated east ot the Park, Forsyth Place.) The wards, buildings, grounds etc., are kept in a neat condition. Bhe Hospital has all the conveniences and Comforts for the sick, tubs, water closets, good beds and beddings, etc. The last Sa turday morning report shows the following as the number of inmates in the Hospital. United States soldiers 22, paroled prisoners 6, white refugee women and children 25, colored refugees 40. The following are the officers of the Hos pital, G. W. Bowman, Act. Asst. Surgeon U. S.’A. in charge; Dr. Landing 24th lowa, Asst. Surgeon ; T. H. Harden, Druggist. Late Interior Papers.— rWe are under great obligations to the Adams Express Cos.; the Southern Express Cos. ; the officers of the Amazon; the proprietors of the Ma con, Augusta and Atlanta papers; and to several other kind friends, for full files of late Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee and South Carolina papers, from which we have gleaned many interesting items of news. Departcrk of the 128th Nf.w York Vol unteers.—This Regiment having been must ered out of service, departed yesterday for home on the Steamship Charles Thomas.— The Regiment is under the commaud of Capt. Davis, From Augusta.— Saturday evening last the steamer Amazon, Capt. David R. Dillon, ar rived from Augusta, with pussengers, mails, and a heavy freight. We are iudebted to Capt. Win. Gibbons, Clerk of the Amazon, and Mr. F. 3. Perry, of Adams Express, for hies of Augusta papers. Sale of the Steamer Amazon.— lt will be seen by the advertisement of Isaac D. La roche, published this morning, that the well known light-draught River-steamer Amozon is to be sold at public auction on Friday next. This steamer, built for these waters, is of great power and capacity, and is in perfect order, offering a rare chance for investment. Watering the Streets. —Saturday morn ing, at an early hour, Mr. James Pierpont was out with his gang of hands and hose car riage, watering Bay and other streets. All persons who desire their sidewalks washed when the hose is near, have but to mention the fact to Mr. Pierpont and it will be promptly attended to. Fruit.—We are indebted to Capt. S. S. btarr, the efficient aud courteous Chief Quartermaster, tor some of the finest apples we have 9ecn for four yeers. Adams Express Company have our thanks for some excellent peaches. Both lots of fruit came from Augusta. Thanks. —We are indebted to Purser Fred. W. Ely, of the Steamship Arago, and Capt Briggs, of the Steamer U. S. Grant, for the safe and prompt arrival of our New York tiles aud dispatches, and also for New York papers of the 12th, furnished by them. Large Shipment of Cotton for New York. —The Steamship Nevada, Capt. Carpenter, was cleared on Saturday afternoon last for New York, having on board 028 bales cotton, etc. This is the largest freight yet cleared by steamer since the opening of this port. Receipts of Cotton. —J. W. McAlpin’s flat No. 2, with 401 bales of cotton has arrived from Augusta. This is the heaviest receipt as yet by flat. Mr Charles O. Davis, long and favorably known in this city, had charge of this valuabl e cargo. the: courts. District Provost Court—Hon. Eben Par sons Jr.i Judge, Presiding. Savannah, July 15, 1605. Wm. Swoll Agt., vs. Zachariah M. Wink ler, action of ejectment. It appearing to the Court that au order issued on the 13th mst., requiring the defendant to vacate the premses occupied by him, by 12 o’clock on tbe 14th inst., which said order Las been, and is still disregarded, it is now ordered that the de fendant as well as all other persons, who are occupying the premises in question, vacate the same instanter, and if they fail to com ply with this order, that they be forcibly ejected. S. Cronk, Trustee, vs. Timothy Luddy, action for recovery of rent to the amount of $33, judgment for plaintiffin the sum of $33, with costs, aud ordered to be paid by the Ist day of July, 1865. Counsel for defendant, Hon. P. M. Russell. Wm. M. Davidson, Agt., vs. Rebecca Sneed, action for recovery of debt, SSO ; judgment tor defendant; but it appearing to the Court that tbe amount of rent, for one month, viz : twenty-five dollars, was due on the 10th day of July, 1065, it was ordered that the same be paid to plaintiff this day. James Heagney vs. L. Seuger—action for recovery of rent to tbe amount of $10; judg ment for plaintiff in tbe sum of five dollars. Counsel for plaintiff, M. J. Ford, Esq. Dr. R. D. Arnold, Executor, vs. Timothy Lane—action for recovery of rent to amount of $36; judgment for plaintiff in tbe sum of S3O aud costs; it was ordered that the amount of judgment and costs be paid by the Ist day of August, 1805. Andrew Farry vs. John Deacy and Bridget Deucy—action lor recovery of premises; case dismissed. Wm. Andree vs. Sarah Fields (colored)— action for recovery of personal property. It appearing that a whgon, the property of plaintiff, came into possession of the defen dant in a dilapidated condition, and was re paired by him; it was ordered that plaintiff pay defendant the amount of repairs, viz: eleven dollars, and upon so doing the wagon be returned to him. United States vs. Mrs. Mary Larkins—vio lation of paragraph 3, General Orders No. 6, Head Quarters Post of Savannah, Ga., July, sth, 1865, on the 12th day of July, 1865; plea not guilty. It was ordered that the accused be fined in the sum of live dollars. Counsel lor defendant Hon. D. A. O'Byrne. United States vs. Albert Hill and S. J. Maxwell—violating General Orders No. 6, Headquarters Post of Savannah, July sth 1865 ; case dismissed. Counsel for defend ant, Hon. P. M. Russell. United States vs. Patrick Kimble (colored) —violating General Order No. 5, Head Quar ters Post of Savannah, July sth, 1865. It was ordered that the prisoner be turned over to Post Provost Marshal with instructions to have him police the streets of tbe city for a a period of ten days. Prosecutor for United States, J. R. Hover. In the case of Gillispie, Campbell, Geo. Burke, James Jenkins and Baylor, (all col ored), charged with peijury in the Post Pro vost Court, Savannah Georgia, July 10th, 1865, it was ordered that the prisoners be confined in the county jail, for a period of six months, and be fined in the sum of five hundred dollars each; in default of payment of said fine, they be imprisoned until such fine is paid. This is the heaviest sentence the Court can pass. United States vs. Thomas Peoples (color ed), charged with stealing a mule, the pro perty of John F. OByrne, Esq., in the city of Savannah, Georgia, on the 6th ot Feb., 1865, postponed to Monday 17th inst., at 10 o’clock a. m. Hon. D. A. OByrne, counsel for United States. United States vs. Susannah Robertson, (colored), charged with stealing money from Mrs. H. Guerard, on the Bth day ot July, 1865, in the city of Savannah Georgia, to the amount of $2.25c. It is ordered that the prisoner be placed in confinement in the county jail for a period of two months. United States vs. John Reilly, James Cum mings, (colored), Sam Hilliard (colored) charged with wearing United States uniform contrary to General Orders No. 6, Headquar ters Post of Savannah, Ga., July sth, 1865; ordered that the first and thud detendants be discharged from custody. James Cummings is turned over to the Post Provost Marshal, with instructions to have him police the streets of the city for a period of twenty days. COTTOS MARKET. The arrivals from Augusta in two days have been 1,201 bales, and 40 bales by wagon. There were a few transactions on Saturday. Considerable anxiety was mani fested to get the uext New York quotations.
