Bartels and Riddell, for one year, by the Chief Quartermaster. 3i£A«» Sampson. —Last evening we were pleased to notice on the deck of this steamer Capt. Samuel l Dennette, late Deputy Harbormaster of the port and district of Savannah. The Sampson, captured from the Confederates, tvas recently taken to the Government workshops at Port Boval, where repairs necessary were made. A cabin was built on the after deck and a railing extended maud the sides of the boat. She has*also been re painted. We congratulate Capt. Dennette on having a snug craft, that on yesterday made the trip between Sa vannah and Hilton Head In three and a half hours. The Sampson is lying at the dock foot of Whitaker street, where Capt. Dennette will be pleased to see his friends on board at all times. The Sampson was built for a towboat, and U about seven years old.— Her gtachlnery Is of gregt power. Buikley, of the Pio neer Line, Hunter A Oammell Agents, made her trip without detention. Both of the ships bring heavy cargoes, and they willl return with full cotton freights Mr. Henry H. Since Sat urday the market has become very quiet and quotable. Sales of Amnskeair. and Pacino Mills printed calicoes are reported at as to 36 cenu per yard. Bleached cottons 46 to 6* eta. per yard. Ginghams 40 cents. For all Imported goods there Is but little inqnlrv. We notice tlist in Provisions a heavy decline has occurred In the prices of articles of a particularly perishable nature. Potatoes are down ; the heavy stock offering anil the sacrifices made, have prndne ed a marked change In the past lew days. Since Saturday, there have lieen heavy receipts of cottons, principally of Uplands, in which a limited business has been doing. All receipts are for ex port. Meats are again showing an upward tendency, the stock ottering is entirely bv retailers. A targe amount of corn is In the markeh and it has been very active for the oast two days. Financial. Exchange.—There lieing very Utile business doing In all descriptions of paper we make no quotations. Specie.—A limited Inquiry prevails for either guld or silver, and there Is but little offering. The baying rates lor gold are 46 ¥ cent, premium, selling at 4; to 48. Silver buying rate 36, selling at 40-uet cent premium. Stocks and Bonds. —Nothing doing, and no quo tations.
