A correspondent of the Boston Dally Adver tlaer, who from the gloomy tone of hi« ietter, must be one of the victims, writes from Reese River District, Nevada, a shocking account of tbe manner in which Eastern capitalists are swindled out of their money in Nevada. He SaJ’S: , „c- It is perfectly surprising to observe the recklessness with which Investments in silver mining property have been made atthe East. Prudent, sagacious and experienced persons, who would not pay ten thousand dollars for a country house, or five hundred dollars for a horse, without careful consideration and examination, appropriate much larger sums to the purchase of mining interest, merely upon the representations of the sellers, This has been done, and will be again. Os course, when capitalists are eo ready to part with their money, swindling transactions will be frequent. Some purchasers that I have heard of will never be able to find their property at all. Others have paid very large sums for what could be purchased here for very small sums. A leading citizen of this place re marked to me, ”I do not see wby Ext ern gentlemen who have surplus funds will invest them in our mines, while there are faro-bsnks at home." Ttrts is hn extrava gance, but it is, after all, not altogether in applicable to those who undertake to realize profits here, without taking the ordinary business precautions. The Power' or Chlorofoim Tauen Inter nally.—The New York News says: Yesterday, a man named Anthony Duffy, aged thirty-five, a laborer in Washington square, was, on returning from his work, seized in Fourth street with hemorrhage from the luugs. Seating himself on the steps of a dwelling, he soon became insensible, and rolled upon the pavement weltering in blood. While blood was still streaming from bis mouth, and nose, and he appeared gasping for breath In the agony of death from tuff.i catlon. a physician appeared and poured the contents of a vial of chloroform, probably two teaspoons-ful, into his mouth, and from that moment the hemorrhage ceased. Twice after wards the remedy was repeated ta small er doses, and the man was relieved rescued as by a miracle from impending death. It is now cla'med for this remedy that it relieves the chill of fever, sun-strokhs, con vulsions and all kindred affections supposed to be denendent upon congestion. But it must in all such wses, & given by the mouth and not be inhalation.
