Oysters.—tin Friday and Saturday, oysters, the
first of the season, were on the fish stalls In the
market for sale at forty cents per quart. We learn
from persons who are conversant with the facts that
it is (fxpected that the Supply of oysters the ending
fall and winter will be larger than known for years.
Savannah wili be supplied from as far south on the
coast as the wdters adjacent to Brunswick and noun
from the vicinity of Port Royal, iu about three
weeks hence the colored laborers having harvested
and garnered their crops, will turn their attention to
the.oysters and fish business. As oysters and a:l
descriptions of flsli will b» abundant this fail and
winter we may expect that tHcy will be cheaper than
they have been lu this market siuce the commence
ment of the war.

Tut: Close of the Heated Trail.—The weather
for several days past ha* been very Warm, and more
oppressive than during the very hot period previous
to the rainy speil in iHe last of August. Last
evening we had a fine shower, but what seemed to
leave ihe atmosphere as and sultry as before
the rain commenced failing. It is probable that the
sultry weather may continue for a few days longer,
but we may congratulate ourselves upon the fact
that'we are approaching the close of the heated
term. Thus far the health of the city has been as
good as usual at this season. Now Is the time to
avoid exposure to sudden changes, to the suu and

Artemus Ward s Mormon Entertainment.
A large and fashionable audience filled Ir
ving Hall last evening to welcome Ariemus
Ward hack to the city, after nearly n year’s
absence, and to show their appreciation of
his peculiar talent, before his departure to
Europe, where arrangements are now being
made for his appcaiance at an early day
The first, of his six farewell entertain men Is
was given last cyening, and proved in every'
particular a complete success. The hail was
literally packed from stage to door—cveiy
seat beiug occupied, the galleries filled, and
the lobby crowded, while numbers were
turned away unable to obtain admission.—
The great showman returns to ■us with
his new Mormon entertainment scarcely
recognizably in bis new suit and improved
appearance. Upon making bis rentree Arte
mus Ward was greeted with the most flat
tering applause, and it was sometime before
he could proceed with his lecture. His jokes
and hits upon Jbe leading questions of the
day were all received with the keenest relish
and set bis hearers in roars of genuine, un
restrained laughter. Some of his pictures
are excellent and received the Commenda
tions they deserved, among which was a
view of the Great, Salt Lake by moonlight, a
superb view, and the Mormon Temple. The
audience was highly appreciative, and
evinced their pleasure by long »nd frequent
applause dnriug tbe evening.—2V. Herald.
