The conduct of Bur 2 -sigh 5 from the time of his coming aboard the .'•--ffii was such as to excite the apprehensions of r ifc-ilow passengers, who accordingly kept a careful -s;ch upon his actions. But at about 11 o’clock, Wednesday night, he rushed from the saloon of the j-'-amer, and was never seen again, although search was made for him within a few minutes of his disap pearance. *ee auction sale of Camp and Garrison Equipage -and Quartermaster’s Stores, advertised for October 10th, by York, Williams, Mclntlre & CQ- Freisht to ACBCSTA.-K will be seen by reference to the advertisement of Messrs. We had the pleasure of attending, at the rooms of Capt- Mosely, at the Pulaski House, an exhibition In the presence of a few friends, of the almost incredi ble acquired powers of Miss Leak, among which were writing lu plain penmanship with her toes, using the crochet necedle, a knife and fork, tumbler, etc., with her feet alone, and saw samples of her beautiful work In embroidery, card board anil croch e vork, A brief opportunity will be afforded the citizens of Savannah to witness the wonderful achievements ot one whose natural deprivation has Providentially became the means of support to her and stressed fami ly Miss Leak will hold levees at St. Andrews Kail ts m.irrow’ from ten o'clock till two, and in the evening at seven o’clock. ARRIVAL OF the Rai.eioh.— The fine first-class side-wheel steamship Raleigh, of the At lantic CoaskMall Steamship Line, arrived here yes terday morning. The advent of this steamship at Savannah marks an epoch In the revival of the busi ness relations with the North which this city sus tained before the war. Hitherto none but small screw steamers, with one or two exceptions, have been placed on the various lines between Savannah and New York, these being deemed sufficient to meet the requirements of the trade. Bui the steady and cheering improvement In business has warrant ed the establishment of a line of first-class side wheel steamships, of which the Raleigh is the first arrival at this port. The Raleigh brought a large number of passengers, who testify In a card, which appears elsewhere, to the sea-going qualities of the steamer and the atten tions of her officers. Lists of the passengers and consignees will be fouua among the shipping intelli gence. Purser Robert Saussey will please accept our thanks for files of New York papers. DESCRIPTION OF THE VESSEL. The Raleigh Is bran new, having been built at Brook lyn, N. Y., this year by Lawrence & Foulk’s, and is.of a handsome model and one adapted to attaining a high rate of speed. She has two decks ;Is 172 feet in length, 36 feet In breath of beam and 19 feet In depth. She Is £O3 tons burthen, and has a capacity tor about 1,200 bales of cotton. She la a sldewheel •ueamshlp. schooner rigged, carrying a mainsail, foresail and gib, with walking-beam in sight. There are twenty-five staterooms, containing fifty-four berths in all, for first-class passengers ; and thirty three berths for steerage passengers. Her motive power is one low'-pressure engine, with a diameter of cylinder of 44 inches, and 11 feet stroke. There are also two force pumps, two fire pumps and two holier.-. The draft of the Raleigh, loaded, Is bat about ten feet, obviously a great advantage over most of the vessels running to this port, as It precludes any chance of her being obliged to Uc outside the bar at the mouth of the river for a tide, upon her arrival. The officers of the Rallelgh ere as follows Geo. M. Walker, Commander, A. J. Brower. Ist. Officer. Oliver Lippman, 2nd. Officer. E. Gage, Chief Eglneer, Robt. Saussy, Purser, If. O'Brien, Steward. Capt. walker acquired an enviable fame as an able and gentlemanly officer, while first officer of the U. S Transport Falton; as did also Mr Brower, os Pilot, of that steamship, and while In the service of the U. 3 Coast Suivey in the Department of the South HER SUPERIOR ACCOMMODATIONS. The Raleigh Is sumptuously fitted up throughout. The Ladles’ Saloon aft, Is finished In elegant style, provided with every possible appliance for comfort. The Saloon Is tastefully carpeted and upholstered, and beautifully paueled lu lilac, white and gold. The roomy and well ventilated staterooms are per fect Uttle boudoirs of elegance and substantial com fort. The forward saloon Is appropriately fitted up, for a dining room, and contains staterooms In every respect like those aft. The kitchen, pantry, officers’rooms and offices on the same deck, are models In their line. So less care is taken to secure the comfort of the passengers lu the steerage, which Is located forward, on the lower deck. A good berth •with mattress and blankets Is provided for each pas senger. A fine promenade deck, with awnings and plenty of seats, and an elegant smoking room bung with pictures, are among the attractions of the Ra leigh for the travelling public. The trip from New York of the Raleigh was actually the trial trip of the steamer, she having neverbefore left her dock, nor even turned her engine over. Yet everything worked to the entire satisfaction of her officers, and passengers by her are enthusiastic lu their praises of her sea going qualities, scarcely any motion or roll having been experienced. We learn that over one hundred passengers have already se cured passage by the Raleigh on her next trip, and a full cargo been engaged. There cast be no question or this splendid steamer and her consorts becoming the favorites with the travelling pubUc and shippers- Messrs. John R. Wilder * Cos., are the agents of At lantic Coast Mall Steamship Company to which line the Raleigh belongs, la this cltT. A (Arif, Os Board Steamship "AMeSica,'’ Tybexi Ro vb, Ga..
