Heretofore It has been the policy to discourage w hite labor in the South ; oar laborers were princi pally colored slaves. From that Tact no white per son labored who could, by any honorable means, avoid It. in fact, it was generally considered dis. graceful to tabor; our sous and daughters were brought up in Idleness ; there really were no reason why those whose parents had plenty of negroes should work. That time has passed, and the s oner we rCallze it the better It will be for us all, Svary tub now stands upon Its own bottom, and many, very many of us, besides the negro, will have to bot tom our own tub. Therefore, those who have a bot tom to their tub, (that is, those who have land.l h.;d better turn la aud work for a living, for In idleness we will soon find ourselves without a bottom, for It will take but u short time to eal up the value of u good patch of laud at two to live dollars per acre, provided we remain In Idleness and continue our habits of ex travagance. There is one thing certain ; that Is, that those who labor Industriously and live economically, will in a few years own the real estate of this country ; be they white or black. Industry,Perseverance and Economy, noty have a field of endgmrlgcmeit before them. The time has arrived when ficncst-Abor is about tobe apprecMted, - The laborer where toll is the wealth of the Nation, Whose breasts arc Its bulwark when danger is nigh. ” To this class of people wo now appeal. Come - o Georgia, fir Georgia has a» the dlversifc of soil ami climate, from tlicSeabWif to tiicl Mountains. The one for agricultural purposes stand unequaled waile the other abound in hills charged with gold and other valuable metals. With all these advantages, strange to tell, laud can be purchased in Georgia for less money than any State iu the Union. Davis i Son Land Brokers at (Augusta, 0a.,: are offering land from 1 to 10 dollars per acre, some of the mostjdeslrable plantations In the State They Lease or sell Aprlcultural or Mineral lands. There fore we 3av In confidence ti the honest and indus trious emigrant, come to Georgia, come at once, your skill and labor Is needed to make Georgia what nature latended It should be. Tim agent for this city and State, is Mr. A. Kohler, a brother of the original manufacturer of the wines In California. The California Wines have ever liad the distinction of being free from adulteration to a degree unequalled by any other wines. But the directness with which they reach Mr, Kohler fiom the producer is a further assurance of their gemiincs* We heartily recommend these wines, their tine slaver, and richness, their parity,, and general superior qua lities. We take pleasure In calling attention to the ad vertisement of Messrs. O'Kallon A Cos., which ap pears hi our columns to-day, and assure our friends in the interior that any business entrusted to them, could not be placed In better hands The monied resonices of the hou3c are large, and the gentlemen comprising the firm are merchants of the highest business Integrity aud qualifications, well known throughout the United States. The advance noticed in last week’s report, in gro ceries, dry goods, etc., was maintained Several ar ticles In the grocery and provision lmo continue ad vanclng, and the market for them is greatly unset tled. During the week we noticed many merchants about towu, from the Interior, Southern Georgia, East and Middle Florida, whose purchase of goods were very large.
