ACH APTER oi Roubskies.—On Friday uiglit last, as Frank lugersoll, a quiet ami inoffensive coloreJ inau, was proceeding to his home through the streets, just after passing Haywood’s ice house, was waylaid by three while men of athletic proportions oue of whom caught liini by the throat and desired to lie informed if he carried concealed weapous. He replied in the negative, when the two oilier high waymen, seizing him, searched his pockets. Frank held his poekelbook, containing all his mouev. in his jell hand. He finally made out to give an alarm, and in return for his cries for assistance, was struck with a heavy stick over the head, aud left by the highwaymen without further molestation. Ou Saturday night last. Mr, Henry F. Segur and Mr. Frank Santina, while on their, way home, louud them selves watched aud tracked by two evidently ill disposed persons. At the east corner of South Bread and Habersham streets they stopped and en quired what the parties following them wanted.— While the conversation was going on, one of the lliives made an attempt lo take from the person of Mr. Segur his gold watch. The thief only obtained the watch-guard, however, and iu return received a cut witli a knife from Mr. Segur. Mr. Santiua was attackrd and severely iufured by the other thief, re ceiving bruises upon his face aud under lip. On Fjirtay night, while at, the circus, an engineer of one of the up-river steamer* had his pocket cut and a valuable gold watch stolen therefrom. The Steamship Wivbosset on tub Obstruc tions.—-The steamship Weybosset, Captain Parish, which 101 l New York on the evening of the 7th, ar rived up to the city yesterday evening. The Weybos set entered ibe river before daylight yesterday morn ing, making Venus’ Point in 70 hours from New York. Through the (doubtless) culpable negligence of those whose duty is lo Keep lights burning on the (i Htructious, theij lights were out, and the pilut s mistook the lights of the steamship l.eo which lay at anchor above, for those which should have been on the Obstructions, which brought the Weybosset upon the logs. She remained there until the tde turned, when she camcolf without having sustained any injury, arriving at her wharf at a.SO yesterday I'. M. The Weybosset brought a heavy freight and about fifty passengers, a caid from wholly’ to Capt. Parish, appears iu the shipping intelligence. Freaks of a burglar.— On Wednesday evening last, the residence of a lady on Whitaker street, was visited by a chevalier de Industrie of the tbeiviug class, which is now so numerous ill our city. The thief boldly entered Hie front door, aud was met on the stairs of tne third story by a lady, who mistook him for oue of the boarders. She spoke to him and passed down stairs. The thief entered the diiferent rooms iu the third story, smashed up the looking glasses, searched the bureaus, drawers, trunks, etc>, and -scattered tire contents over the floor. In the t runi: of a lady was a pocket-book, which contained twenty-five dollars in greenbacks. This the Chief pocketed. The lady who spoke to the thief when he was iu the third story, afterwards entered the parlor and discovered the gentleman there whom she supposed she had accosted on the slain), blic immediately made known tothegentleinau ihe existence of his ‘ double.” Suspicion was rou sed, ami the gentleman proceeded up stairs, but the burglar after hurling an empty blottle at him, whl'cli missed its mark, made his exist Horn tite house by some unknown means aud escaped.
