It appear* tiiat thoro who have suffered most trom the cliolerti in Paris sre the ehif fonmert, or ragmen, and the si reet-aweepui s On tbe former cists it has fallen so heavily that there is some intention of the trade altogether. % | It is Mid that one hundred and fifteen thou sand persons fled from Paris within fifteen days, to avoid the epidemic ; but tbe exam ple of the Emperor and Empress iu visiting the hospitals where the patients are under treatment has added much to their personal popularity, and will have a healthy nioial effect. The Paris correspondent of the Lon don Times writes t “The Empress’s visit to the hospitals, and her presence at the bedsides of the cholera patients, speaking words ol comfort aud en couragement to all, has excited universal surprise and admiration among all classes of tbe population. It has extorted the warm est praise even from those who are uo warm friends of the imperial dynasty ; and the humane and courageous conduct of the illustrious lady, suffering as she has been fwr some days from the severe cold, will long be remembered by those who are but too apt to forget everything. The Emperor Empress, and Prince Imperial had already contributed a sum of fifty thousand traces for tbe relief of the necessitous among the convalescents, but-her presence ou the spot itselt where the disease was prevalent was far mo-e precious than any gift ” The Journal dea Debats, alluding to the Empress’s visit, says .- “The emotion was, as may be supposed great among the poor people, and their grat itude profound. Their eyes were filled with tears. One oi the patients, whose sight was dimmed by the gravity of his condition, an swered a question addressed io him by the Empress with the words, ‘Yes, my si ter ’ •My good friend,’ said the Sister of Charily who was in attendance, ‘it is not I who am speaking to you, it is the Empress.’ ‘Let him call me so,’ the. Empress replied ; “it is the finest name he could give me.’ ” The departure of the Court for Campeigne is postponed, the Emperor and Empress having determined not to leave Paris until after the entire disoppear&uce of the cholera, now fast declining. The Forthcoming Dki-artmkm- Rki-orts. —The Secretaries and Heads of several De paitments of the government are rapidly preparing their reports of the operations of the different branches of the government for the pitst year. They must necesarily prove more than loually interesting ia their sum ming up of results at the close of the war and the re-estublisbmcnt of peace. The Postmaster-General’s report will be one of great interest, in view of the re-organization of the southern mail service, and Governor Dennison will bring hia report down to a later period than usual, in order to give an exhibit of the condition of the southern mail service at the present time. The revenue of the postal service in the ioya! states for the past year was larger than that of ail the slates bcfoie the war. General Graut's re § oil, which lias been iu the hands of the teretary of War for soma days, has been rt called by the General. —National Inttlbyut cer. CoNseiRACY in Siberia. —A Curious conspi racy Inis lately been discovered in Siberia.— The Russian authorities contrive to keep all these things tolerably seciet, but the outline of the whole affair is as follows: At this moment there are a great many Polish exiles in Siberia, the melanehoiv result of the un successful insurrection. "Some few of them have succeeded iu escaping after going through the most dreadful hardships. These had suggested to their triends at home that the only place for assisting the escape of the others was to collect a sufficiently large sum to bribe all the Russian officials, and to en able them to emigrate to America with their former prisoner aud live there at their ease. A large sum had already been collected for this purpose, aud success was beginuing to seem not impossible, when the plot was be trayed to the Russian Government, and en tirely frustrated. Asa very large number of wealthier Poles hud contributed to tho te quired fund, they nre naturallv iu a state of considerable amexty respecting the serious cotiscquensee that may result to them selvas. At the farewell dinner which Sir Morton Peto and the English capitalists gave in New York, the other day, two hundred and. fifty guests were present, and the dinner cost about $25,000, just SIOO for each person, being, no doubt, the most elaborate and complete banquet ever given in this country.. At least twenty-four kinds of wine were drank, aud the twice of some of the brands, the imperial Tokay for instance, was SSO per bottle. Probablk Abdication of thb Kino or Saxont.— Advices from Dresden speak of the abdication of the King in favor of his son, Prince Albert, as not improbable. This resolution is said to have been inspired by the gravity of the situation created forth* secondary States of Germany by the menac ing pressure of Prussia and Austria, and by the conviction entertained by the Prince Royal and Baron de Beust, Prime Minister of Saxony, that the only way to parry th# danger is to give complete satisfaction to the liberal wishes of the peo p le. A great land slide occurred at Race Bend. Tennessee, forty miles above Memphis, Wed nesday morning last, at four o'clock. The government tow-boat, Baltimore, with four barges loaded with hiiy, was lying tip the bend, when a portion of the bank above, about tbtee .hundred feet in length and seventy-five in depth, came down like an avalanche on two .barges nearest the shore, containing two thousand four hundred bales ot hay, crushing them to atoms and sinking them instantly. The kiss is estimated at twenty-one thousand dollars. No lives lost, though the watchman narrowly pscaped be* jug buried alive. A suggestion long since made by Sir Ed win Landseer, that the lions and tigers in the Zoological Gardens in London, should be allowed to roam abont in a state of nature— that is within due bounds—in a species of nature circumscribed by art, in the shape of deep “ha ha's" (or sunken tienebes, such as one sees in English parks) and chtvtux de fi-ixe, is now tieing agitated afresh and like ly to be carried out, with other improve ments, before next season. —The infant child of a negro girl in Gal latin, Tenn., was almost entirely eaten by rats a few weeks ago.
