Tribute of Respect to the late Mr Cordes. —At the regular monthly meeting of the German Fire Company, held at their hal 1 on Tuesday evening, Nov. 28th, the follow iug preamble and resolutions were offered and unanimously passed : The German Fire Company of Savannah, in meeting assembled, do deplore the untime ly death of onr brother Fireman ex-third Foreman Ahrend Cordes, who came so an untimely end by violence committed by some person or persons to us unknown—that we hc:i" testimony to his good qualities os a citi zen and fireman, being always prompt, ready and willing where duty called him. Honest and upright in his dealings with his fellow men. and quiet and unobtrusive in the varied relations of life, and’ with not an enemy in the community, truly can it lie said of him “lie had a conscience void of offence to wards God and man.” Be it Resolved, That we lament and de plore the loss of our late brother fireman, Ahrend Cordes. Be it further Resolved, That the First Fore man of the Company offer a reward of Two Hundred Dollars for the arrest and proof to the connection of the perpetrator or perpej ltutors of this cruel and brutal murder. Be it further Resolved, That a blank page in the minute hook of the Company, be dedi cated to the memory of our deceased brother. Be it Resolved, That the Fir t Foreman advertise the reward as set forth in the 2d resolution, in the Herald and Repub lican three times each, and in the City Ad vertiser for one week. Be it further Resolved, That the foregoing he published in the city papers. F. Kold, Scc ry. G. F. C. Final Disposal of the Steamer Annie.— A survey was held day before yesterdayby the signers of the document published in full below, at the call of the Captain of the An nie, to determine as to what disposition should Ite made of that steamer. The deci sion of the surveyors is detailed at length below, and will be read with interest, as coming from gentlemen so well known as thoroughly capable of giving judgment on matters of this kind. They decide that it would he impracticable to remove the steam er to any Northern dock yard for repairs, and ns these cannot be properly accomplish ed here, it will be necessary to dispose of her tit public auction for the benefit of insu rance holders, owners and underwriters : Savannah, Ga , Nov. 28, 1865. We, tlie undersigned, having been this day called ou by Captain James Clark, of the steamship “Annie,” to hold a survey upon the said steamship for the purpose of ascer taining her condition, and the damage caused to the said vessel by her strandtug in Savan nah river as well as to determine what course is best to be pursued with reference to said ves sel, lot tlie interest of all concerned- The said vessel having been recently pumped out aud raised and towed across the said river and now lyiQg on the mud at the Eastern Wharf, at the city of Savannah'. Having repaired on board of said vessel, we tiud that there is considerable damage in her bottom, caused by first course of her sinking. But it is impossible to estimate the damage strict h\ iuasntuch as there is no means of exami ning her bottom, the hole being, in our opin ion. under the bed plate and under the en gine, which would have to be removed be fore a thorough examination could be made of that part of her. The principal damage to the vessel has occurred by her lying on the beach at the Place oi' her stranding, a sevete twist of her hull has been caused, injuring that, and throwing the machinery out of line, and pro bably totally ruining some parts of it. The huii of the vessel appears to be bogged, both ends dropping considerably. It is impracti cable to attempt to repair the vessel here, there being no dock. It will be, In our opinion, unwise to at tempt to remove the vessel to some other port tor tlie purpose of repairing her, even wa re it practicable to do so The cost would be such that it will be greatly against iuter est to attempt it, as well as unsale. In con i oration of the age ot the vessel, viz: tourteen years, and ot the facts above stated, we recommend that she be sold at public auction, where she now lies, believing that uc 'i disposition of her will be for the inter est ot all concerned.
