Confkdkratk Colony in Mkxico. —Letters have been received from General Price, dated at Cordovia, Mexico, on the 14th of November. Qov. Harris, of Tennessee, tbe Hon. John Perkins, of Louisiana, Gun. Bhel by, of Missouri, and a great many other of ficers and men of tho late Confederate army, wefb also at the same place ; the district of Cordovia having been selected by tbe Im perial Commissioners as the seat of colony which those gentlemen propose Jo found in Mexico. In regard to tbc lauds iD which the colony is settled, Gen. Price says : “They are about seventy miles from Vera Cruz, and on tbc railroad leading tbonce to the City of Mexico. This road is being rapid ly constructed, nud is now in operation to within fifteen miles of this place, and will be completed to tbe town of Cordovia in a few mouths, and lo tbe City of Mexico in two yenrs. These lands are three thousand leet above the level of the sea, and are as fertile as any of tbe Platte lands. They are unsurpassed in the production of corn, tobacco, cane, vegetables of every kind aud all tbe tropical liuits. The lands which lie between the elevated country aud tbe coast, produce as much and as good cotton as the Louisiana lauds. We are practically as near the markets ol New York and New Orleans as the people of Central Missouri ; and tbe climate is the best in the world. The thermometer never rises above ninety de grees nor falls below seventy. The water is excellent, and we can get ice from the moun tains covered with perpetual snow, which are in plain sight, and about thirty miles dis tant. The Imperial Government has pur chased the lands from the original proprie tors, and sells them to us at one dollar an acre. Our colony commences with about thirty Confederates, all of whom are in high spirits, and expect to make fortunes raising coffee. A gentleman who has lived here a tew years, sold his last year's crop for sixteen tllousand dollars. It was produced on sixteen acres of land. He works only ten hands. He tells me that his fruit trees can supply his table with a different variety of fruit each day in the year. His coffee plantation, sha ded with every species of fruit tree laden with lruit, and the walks bordered with pine apples is certainly the most beautiful farm that 1 have ever seen.” - ’ Chiu, Homarks of Signor Mac Kenna, of Chili, at the National Union Club, New York: “He said that Chili was the first country in South America to offer its cordial support to the great idea of encircling the world with the telegraph. Chili will be benefltted more than any other nation by the telegraph, owing to its exclusion by nature from tbe commercial nations of the world. Cbili had its first line of telegraph between Santiago and Valparaiso in 1850, and now there are two lines connecting those cities. The rail way lines ot Cbili amount to nine hundred miles; and there are one or two electric wires runniug along their full extent. Chili is now building nine hundred miles ot inland telegraph. When bigoted Spain began a wanton and unjustifiable war, Cbili ordered some uine hundred miles of telegraph to be immediately made to protect tbe country, and immediately sent her soldiers to tbe place threatened by tho Spaniards. The speaker said that the only practicable tele graph route in South America, from ocean to ocean, was through Chili. He thought that a line would soon be completed on a plan similar to that of the overland route to Behriog’s Straits. There are two routes pro posed, in both of which Americans are in terested. The speaker said that but little is known in tbe United States of tbc South American countries. The European nations have a great advantage of ns iu ibis respect. South of Panama there is not a single com merciai steamer that bears the American fiag. That commerce has been entirely monopo lized by a fleet of English steamers. Go there, the speaker said, ojid we willtiud a vast field open for enterprise- Do not mind Spam, nor her old admiral. Go there, and we will find somo one to open the door for us. Iu conclusion, the speaker said that he was ity favor ot the Monroe doctrine, and he hoped the United States would adhere to it" A vote of tbauks was returned to Senoi* Mac Kenna, and tbe meeting adjourned. The jewels worn by Mrs. Phillips, the new Lady Mayoress of Loudon, at the Guildhall banquet last month, were valued at thirty thousand pounds. Mrs. Phillips is described as “a beautiful Jewess with bright eyes, brunette complexion and a fine figure altogether a handsome woman.” Mr. Marshall O. Roberts it reported to have been offered tbe New York Collector ahip. NOTICE TO THE BHIPPEKS OF GOODS BY THE STEAMER SAVANNAH.ON THE 4iu DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1886. The sex will tlieu thank u, for placing in their hau.ls simple specifics which will be found efficacious lu relieving and curing almost every on. ol those troublesome complaintepeculiar to the sex. HELM BOLD'S EXTRACT Ol BUCHU. Hundreds suffer on in silence, and hundreds of other, apply vainly to druggist* and doctors, who either merely tantalise them with tile hope of a cure or apply remedies which make them worse. I would not wish to assert snytliing that would do Injustice to tbe afflicted, but 1 am obliged to say that although ii may be produced from excessive exhaustion of tbe power, of life, by laborious employment, unwhole some air and food, profuse meustruuiiou, the use of lea and coffee, anil frequent childbirth, ll is far often er caused by direct irritation, applied to the mucous membrane of the vagina itself. When reviewing the causes of these distressing complaints, it is must painful to contemplate the at tendaut evils consequent upon them. It is but simple justice to the subject to enumerate a lew of the many additional causes which so largely affect the life, health, aud liappiueas of womau in ail classes of so ciety, sud which, consequently, affect, mure or less directly, the welfare of the entire human family. The mania that exists for precocious education and mar riage, causes the years that nature designed for cor poreal development to be wasted and perverted in tbe restraints of dress, the early confinement of school, and especially iu the unhealthy excitement or the ball-room. Thus, with the body half clothed aud ibe mind unduly excited by pleasure, perverting in mid night revel the hours designed by tiatuie for sleep and rest, the work of destruction is half accom plished. I consequence of this early strain upon her system, unnecessary effort la required by the delicate votary to retain her situation in schools at a later day, thus aggravating the evil. When one excitement Ls over, another in prospective keeps the mind morbidly sen sitive to impressiou, while the now constant restraint of tashlonuDle dress, hbsolutely forbidding the exer cise Indispensable to the attainment and retention of organic health and strength; the exposure to night air; the sudden change of temperature; the com plete prostration produced by excessive dancing must, of necessity, produce their legitimate effect. At last an early marriage caps the climax of misery, and the unfortunate one, hithei to so utterly regardless of the plain dictates and remonstrances of her delicate na ture, becomes au unwilling subject of medical treat ment. This is but a truthful picture of tbe experi ence of thousands of thousands of our young women. Long before tbe ability to exercise tue functions of the generative organs, they require an education of their peculiar nervous system; composed of what is called tbo tissue, which is, in common with the fe male breast and lips, evidently under the control of mental emotions and associations at an early period 01 life ; and, aa we shall subsequently see, theso emo tions, when excessive, lead, long before puberty, to habits which sap the very life or their victims ere na ture has self-completed their development. For female weakness and debility,, whites or len eorrlnea, too prsfuse, exhausting, too long continued periods, for prolapsus and bearing down, or prolapsus uteri, we offer the most perfect specific known; Helh boi.d'a Compound Extract or Beane.
