On the day of the sailing of the steamship Constitution from this port two gentleman passengers passing down the Bay ob served the sign “Insurance against accidents.” More In pleasantry than In seriousness, one remarked to the other, “We are going on a sea voyage; let ua Insure for the voyage.” “Agreed,” said his com panion. Entering ilie office of Col. A. WUbar. they took policies for $1,000 each, for the Inconsiderable sum of one dollar each. Tbe sad intelligence of the loss of the Constitution reached us a few days since, too painfully couflrmed by the accounts since pub lished. Of the passengers only two are known to have been saved. Among the lost are, ao far as Is known, the two who took policies of Insurance. Yesterday Col. Wilbur received a dispatch from the Secretary of the Hartford Travellers’ Insurance Com pany, saying “Qet proofs of losses on Constitution and they will be promptly paid.” Comment is unnecessary. The Theatre—Those who have not yet seen the charming actress, Miss Fannie Price, will have an excellent opportunity to do so this evening, as she appears In a character most completely suited to her style, “ The Little Barefoot, ” rendered famous by the impersonation or Maggie Mitchell, and In which Miss Price has obtained the most flattering enco miums of the critics In all the principal cities of the 3outh. Those who were so fortunate as to witness Miss Price's personation of Fanrhou last week, will know that to-night ts when they want to see her again. The benefit of Miss Price occurs on Friday evening, which should also be bone In mind.
