Benefit of Mb. Theu. Hamilton.—The patrons
lof the drama are already advised that the compll-
ImentaiY beuilet to Mr. Theo. Hamilton, the enterprw-
1 in" manager and popular actor takes place this
levelling. The attractive bill lor the occasion and
|the lively Interest taken in Hie matter by the numer
ic friends aud admirers of Mr. H., render It utt-
| necessary that we should do more than remind those
j who deal* to participate In this dramatic ovatlou
| that they should lose no time lu securing seats. The
| beautiful allegorical drama of the “Marble Heart”
jUI be presented with a cast of characters such us
v.i-never before been presented on our stage, lnclu -
I dlug Mr. and Mrs. Crisp, with the entire talent of the
I company ; and we can safely promise our theatrical
j public a rare dramatic treat, the enjoyment of which
’ will be lu 110 degree abated by the fact that it affords
a fitting opportunity to pay a merited compliment to
i one who ha i labored faithfully and succesfully, both
las manager nmi actor lor our entertainment during
^Bthc present theatrical season.
The Joist SrocE Company.—The store No. 172
j Broughton street has been the scene of considerable
j excitement during the past few days, being crowded
(from morulug till late at night with a throng ot cus.

the display of rich piate, jewelry, watches, photo-

will strike the reader as being singularly simple and

e learn from the ••Virginias’’ conespoudent of
New York News that the steamer Hcieti Getty
ter trip lronr Savannah last Saturday carried
out about Sj newly imported emigrants Just arrived
from New York These were taken to Palatka, to be
I employed on the plantations of A. L. Eioitelberger,
I near O; .da. it is well for Floridians and Georgians
1 needing laborers to remember that they can secure
| from the American Emigrant Company, at No. 3
Bowling Green, New York, any supply of these iabor-
who can be brought to Savannah lor $10,
1 steerage passage, and for $0 additional cin be land
ed in the heart of Florida. These were mostly Ger
mans, fine and robust • five were Poles and one Rus
sian, who was a sort of superintendent. They are to
receive $100 per annum, and seemed much pleased
at tne idea of finding homes in the South.
The Theatre.—Mr. and Mrs. Vv. H. Crisp's bene
fit last evening was attended by a select and highly
appreciative audience.
The present week has been pre-eminently one of
benefits. The succession of these occasions, so
pleasant to the public and gratifying to the respec
tive bea.’aci.iries. will be continued by the benefit of
Mr. HaiinPou tins evening and that of Mr. L<>ud on
Saturday night. We neeeWnot rdlnlnd the frequeut-
t era ot the Theatre that Mr. Loud has uniformly aus-
I tamed with marked ability an arduous line of ciiar-
■ acters, contributing perhaps as much as any oilier
| member of the excellent stock company to the gen-
| cral success and high character of the nightly per-
liunnances. We have marked with pleasure tue
| growing popularity of this talented young actor and
lirust bl will receive a generous benefit.
as Burners.—Although we have written ium-
| dreds of complimentary notices about divers persons
I and things, we cannot call to amid ever to have in
dited one with more sincerity and with more real
satisfaction to ourselves than this, In which we call
j the attention of our readers to Dr. Garland’s im-
I .proved check gas burners. Fur, whereas we were
’’"out to write by a dim light which, from time to
| time, would struggle lu vain against the darkness
visible, we are writing this—thanks to Dr. Garland’s
burners—under a brilliant glare that sheds a pleag-
*ng lustre 011 our spirits, and pats us In a flr.ii rate
,r with me Gai rioiiip.iiiy, wiili in Garland,
,nli it-lvcs, and with i-u-rybody in geueinl. Since
»ve been using these burners our gas mil has
nec-a reduced about twenty-dye or thirty per cent.
There Is no gas about this, not- is economy lu these
times a subject to make light ot.—Charleston Sews.

We have learned not to be astonished at anything
Years of experience and a correspondence extending
throughout all nationalities of the habitable glebe
have turned theories into facts and established a basts
from which wc need not err. We are not surprised
at such facta as the following—although the persons
who write them are. We know the persons and cir-
umstauces, hence feel at liberty to indorse their
statements:
‘‘Nsw BedFobd, Mass., Nov. 24, 1863.
Dear Sir,—I have been afflicted many years with
severe prostrating cramps in my limbs, cold feet aud
hands, and a general disordered system. Physicians
and medicines failed to relieve me. While visitiDg
some friends in New York who were using Plantation
Bitters, they prevailed upon me to try them. I com
menced with a small wine-gla«Bful alter dinner. Feel
ing better by degrees, in a few days I was astonished
to find the coldness aud cramps had entirely left me,
and I could sleep the night through, which I have not
done lor years I feel like another being. My appe
tite and strength have also greatly improved by the
use of the 1’Jnutation Bitters.
