ROBERTS—On the ethinst., at the resldenc^of his uncle, Edmund Byne, Esq., In Waynesboro’, Burke county, D. Bolan Roberts, aged *1 years aud S months. The deceased was a native of Scrlven county, a most estimable young man, whose un. timely death is sincerely mourned by a large circle of relatives and friends. BENTLY—In this city, January 18,1SW, at the resi dence pf David J. Deas, the Rev. William Bently, colored preacher, aged 72 years; for 47 years a mem ber of the Methodist Church, and for 41 years a faithful minister of the Gospel in said Church. OBITUARY. Departed this life January 1st, 1808, ELLEN, wife of Thos. Byrne, of this city.’ The deceased was borff In Niagara , C. W., Oct. 31, 1838, but was a resident of Savannah when the fatal disease terminated her life. Few circles of society have been called npon to mourn l he loss of a more valued member than that In .which lived and moved the subject of this notice. Few who have associated with her in the relations of life will mourn a more sincere Christian or a more devoted wile, around whom was clustered eveiy virtue that dignifies and adorns the character of woman. In domestic life no one more beautifully illustrated the virtues that illu- lumine and make happy the circle of home. Kind, gentle and charitable, no one knew her but to love aud admire her. Endeared to all by her gentle dis position and sincere devotion, we will miss her- Ac cepting her affliction with submission, humbly bow ing to the will of God, aud remembering that whom He loveth ne chasteueth, she bore her illness with wonderful resignation and fortitude. Every attention was shown to her by her devoted husband, who watched over her with great solicitude, hoplug, yet how vaiuly, that she might tie spared to him. Kind hands soothed her pillow, and loved lips whispered of a home beyond the stars where the weary at rest, where sin and sorrow are unknown, and where happiness is complete In the enjopmenl of God. Wo sincerely sympathise with her husband and relatives in their sad bereavement. May God com fort them, and may He watch over Little Nellie, and grant she may be like iter gentle mother, whose pure spirit will be a guardian angel to her and to tnose to whom alls is -not lost, but only gone before.” FRIEND.
