been organized iu November, 1881, and re-enllsted
February, 1864. During the war It served In the De
partment of the Booth, the Department of the Gulf,
and in Virginia, under Sheridan. The regiment will
take the first transportation for New York, where
they will be mustered out of service. The following

The Theatre.—A large house was gathered at
the theatre last night, attracted by the double In
ducement of an excellent bill and the drawing of the
valuable prizes which the management gives away
to ticket holders every night this week. The latter
feat ure has proved an entire success, drawing crowds
of theatre-goers both last night and the night before,
who seem to be entirely satisfied with the arrange
ment. The prizes were distributed according to an
nouncement and apparently very’ acceptably to those
present. To-night an excellent list of prises is
oiTered, including the following desirable articles:
A set of cottage furniture, valued at ago
A toilet stand ’’40
A solid shyer sugar spoon jj
A meerscBaum pipe ”30
A gold headed cane . 25
A box of chessmen and board ’" g
A lady’s card case 0
A lady’s reticule.... '. / 5
A portfolio ’ 5
And a case of perfumery 5
The bill of the evening includes “Leap Year” and
a “Kiss in the Dark,” with Raymond and Miss Gor
don in both pieces.
The Gift Store.—The excitement continues una
bated ut the Gut Store on Broughton street, all
classes of our citizens crowding the establishment
throughout the day and evening. Tills speaks well
for the liberality and fairness with which the valua
ble prizes are distributed. We veuture to say that
no enterprise of the kind ever presented equal In
ducements for investment. The people seem to ap
preciate the opportunity, judging from the throngs at
the store and the Interest manifested throughout
the community. We learn that the proprietors find
It difficult to keep a sufficient stock on their shelves,
although new goods are arriving every day. They
are expecting a large lot of plated silver ware, and
as soon as It arrives will set apart a day for the la
dles, and gentlemen who accompany them only. The
following are among the gifts distributed yesterday :
2 gold watches, valued at $90; o gold plated do, $45;
9 Silver Watches, $25; 11 elegant Hake Baskets, $20;
20 castors at about $9, butter dishes, syrup mugs,
sets of spoons, forks, cups, goblets, Ac., Ac.
A Model Hotel.—Mr. Ells, writing from this city
to his journal, the Augusta Daily Transcript, thus
speaks of one of the Savannah hotels:
“ Beyond all question, one of the oest hotels In the
country, tj-day, Is the Marshall House,on Broughton
street, Savannah, under the management of Mr. A.
B. Luce, who understands his business thoroughly.
The Tooms are newly aud neatly furnished ; the ta
ble comforts cannot be surpassed. Everything goes
along smoothly, regular as clock work, and the
gue ts enjoy the satlsfaatlon of knowing that they
receive a quid pro quo.. To the traveling public,
therefore, we would say, 'there Is rest for tiie weary-
at the Marshall House.”

We have learned not to be astonished at anything.
Years of experience and a correspondence extending
throughout all nationalities of the habitable globe
have turned theories Into facts and established a basis
from which we need not err. We are not surprised
at such facts as the following—although the persons
who write them are. We know thfe persons andcir-
umstances, hence feel at-liberty to indorse their
statements:
“Nzw Bedford, Mass., Nov. 24,18C3.
Dear Sir,—I have been afflicted many years with
severe prostrating cramps in my limbs, cold feet aud
hands, and a general disordered system. Physicians
and medicine, failed to relieve me. While visiting
some friends in New York who were using Plantation
Bitters, they prevailed upon me to try them. I com
menced with a small wine-glassful after dinner. Feel-
ing better by degrees, in a few days I was astonished
t° And the coldness and cramps had entirely left me,
and.I coaid sleep the night through, which I have not
done for years. I feel like another being. My appe
tite and strength have also greatly improved by the
use of the Plantation Bitters.
- Respectfully, Judith Rcbszl.”
Reedsburt, Wis., Sept. 16, 18G3.
* I have been in the army hospitals for four

Ill., they gave me a bottle of Plantation Bitters. • •
Three bottles restored my speech and cured me. • *

head, loss of appelite, and daily wasting consumption,
on whom all medical skill had been exhausted, has
been entirely restored. We commenced with bnt a
teaspoonful ol Bitters a day. Her appetite and
strength rapidly increased, ana she is now well.
