The Theological Seminary of South Caro lina. ' Our attention haa been directed to a printed com munication from Bishop Davis of 8outh Carolina, in which an appeal is made In behalf of the Diocesan Theological Seminary of that State, established at Cam den. The Bishop states that the Seminary buildings and a large portion of the library have been destroyed by fire, and that the permanent fond, amounting to nearly fifty thousand dollars, waa all lost during the progress of the late war. He alao states that the effects of these misfortunes have been alleviated in some mea sure by a present to tbe Bishop and Trustees of a large and well adapted building and grounds, in Orange burg, for the use of the professors and students. The liberal donor is Mr. Trenholm of Charleston, the ex- Secretary of the Confederate Treasury. But the Trus tees have no money with which to resume the exer cises of tbe institution, and hence the appeal of the Bishop for pecuniary assistance. Fonr thousand dol lars are necessary to carry on the work this year; but two hundred and fifty thousand dollars will be re quired to put tbe institution on a secure and perma nent basis.
