For publishing, iu the town of Irwinton, Alaba
ma, a Weekly Newspaper, to be entitled the
IRWINTON CHRONICLE.
H AVING hoard many complaints of tho want
of a Newspaper in this town, (to bo con
ducted in a gentlemanly tiko manner,) the under
signed have becu induced, by the eumet-t solici
tations of many fricuds, to embark in tho under
taking.
In assuming tiro duties consequent upon such
an enterprise, we feel deeply conscious of the re
sponsibility which will tlevoivo upon us; and
knowing, too, the. diversity of tho human mind,
we cannot Hatter ourselves that wo will be able
to please all, but so far as our humble abilities
extend, we will nt all times be found striviug to
elevate the stundnrd of tmjtii aud correct mor
al principles. It will bo our object to advo
cate all such measures ns are best calculated to
advance the prosperity of tho Eastern section of
our State, abounding as it does, in eo many na
tural advantages, and asn necessary consequence,
especially to promote the interests of onr own
town. Our aim will be to render our paper use
ful and valuable to all cluases of tho community—
in short, Literature, Useful Information, Agri
culture, Foreign and Domestic Intelligence, will
each receive a due proportion of qur attention.
In regard to Politics, we deem it lieces^iry to

This Elixir may be mldpted in all those cases in
which either Opium or its preparations arc ud-

symptoms, whicli are often as distressing os those
which it was applied to remove.
The Elixir of Opium is not only superior to the
artificial compouiuls of Morphine, in its being
more mild, permanent and uniform in its efteets,
hut the preparation possesses also a superior ad
vantage to their solutions, in not being liable to
decomposition or deterioration from variable tem

which tho latter are exposed.
Finally, Morphine, not being tho full represen
