Indies, fully justify Dr. Peters in wimnly and con
scientiously recommending them to the special at
tention of tho uffiictod.
Dr. Peters has spent much time in experiment
iug with different Vegetable Medicines for diseas
es of tho liver, and now offers his Vegetable Pills
as tho host, most convenient mid cheapast Medi
cine that can bo prepared for general use,
ility of hi *’ *
Ono great quality’of his Vegetable Pills Is that
they have tho alternative principle combined with
their carfimrtic, or operative qualities, or that they
not only cleanse tlio stomach and bowels by pur
ging, biit they regulate tho liver, change tho mor
bid secretion, strengthen the digestive organs, pu
rify the blood, invigorato the circulation, and gives
tone nnd energy to tho nervous system.
They are mild and pleasant in their operation
nnd convey almost immediate conviction of tlioir
utility from their first dostf. They can be taken
with safety by persons of any ago; and the feeble,
the infirm, tho nervous nnd delicate aro strength
ened by their operation, because they clear fiio
system of had humors, quiet nervous irritability,
anddtivariably prbduco sound health.
Tho Vegetable Pills aro a sure remedy for jami
dice, sick nnd nervous headache, clyspepsy, cor-
tivoness, sickness of the stomach, heartburn, ull
bilious complaints, fevers of all kinds, nnd if taken
at the commencement will invariably check their
progress, nnd save tho patient from a protracted
mid dangerous sickness. They ure invaluable in
nervous and hypocondrical affections, loss of ap
petite, nnd all complaints to which fenmlcs alone
are subject. They operate us a mild sneedy purge,
ami are a safe and certain remedy for worms L*i
children.

Dr. Peters was one of tlio best chemists in the U.
States, and felt assured that lie would some day
(fVom his intimate knowledge of the properties of

and 1 must acknowledge that his Vegetable Pills
fully respond to my expectation. They are, in
deed, a superior medicine and reflect alike upon

IIE subscriber has tlio pleasure of announc
ing to the citizens of tlio Uuitud States, that
lie has purchased, for a very largo sum and from
the inventor, the celebrated Dr. Mnguin, of Paris,
fiie recipe and right for iimkiug this astonishing
medicine. Until the appearance of tho “Lucina
Cordial," (about three years since! it was thought
that the complaints which it speedily overcomes,
were beyond the reach of human remedy, as for
upwards of a thousand years, they had bufiled the
wisdom and ingenuity of the most profound phy
sicians in all parts of tho world. This Cordial,
however, to tho ^rent advantage of tho human
race, soon proved itself to he the desideratum so
long sought for; mid accordingly, notwithstanding
the brief period of its existence, it has acquired a
celebrity so great, that it is eagerly sought for
throughout file civilized gloho. Dr. Magnin soon
finding that tho demand was so vast as to render
a supply impossible, disposed of the recipe atul
right of sale, under obligations of secrecy, for
England aud fiio United States, and other coun
tries. only preserving Franco niul Italy for himself.
Thus has tlio subscriber passaged himself of the
iuvuluublo secret, and uovv hastens to gtoo tho in
habitant* of his line of agency fiie benefits of his
speculation.
“Lo Cordial do Lucino," or, in English, "the
Lunina Cordial," is a general iuvigoratorof file hu
man frame. In nil the various cases of languor,
lassitude and debilitation, it is an unfailing reme
dy, ns it is equally its 'province to impart cheer
fulness and decision to the mind, ns health and vi
gor to the body. But the peculiar virtue on which
its celebrity is based, is tho facility and certainty
with which it restores the virile powers when they
have been destroyed by disonse, time, reckless
ness, or any of the numerous causes wbioli termi
nate in tlio prostration of those functions.
In common with tlio generality of roully good
medicines, this Cordial contains nothing ol a mer
curial or deleterious nature, among tlio many in
gredients which composQ it; hut is, at tho same
time, so simple, yet so efficacious, that while it can
renovate tlie.prostratod energies of a giant, an in-
flint may use it, not only with impunity, but with
advantage.
The usages of society nre unfortunately such
that, notwithstanding the benefits which would be
sure to result from it, wo cannot enter into an an
alysis of fids inestimable Cordial hero, or publish
many of tho documents which have been receiv
ed, ns vouchers of tho blessings it has conferred on
numbers of despairing individual.*. But this we
cunnot forbear remarking—that it has been de
monstrated that there is scarcely ever, if any such
thing at all, ns uatunil barrenness, or as iiuturul
the chyle, and hence on the impurities of the blood
is evidently very surprising."
Charlotte, N. C. Jan. 1,1837.
Dear Sir—I have mude frequent use of your
Pills in the incipient stngo of bilious fever, nnd ob-
igc
stinute constipation of tho bowels; also, in the en
largement of the spleen, chronic diseases of file
liver, sick headache, general debility, and iu ull ca
ses have found them to bo. very effective.

Having used Dr. Peters’ Pills in my practice for
the last 12 mouths, I take pleasure iu giving my
testimony of their good effects in cases of dys
pepsia, sick headache, bilious fevers, nnd other
diseases, produced by inactivity of tho liver.—
They are a safe nnd mild aperient, being the best
article of tho kind I have ever used.

gtvsiiin’g Panacea.
A S fiie intemperance and luxury of the age nre
xV hastening the ravnges of scorbntic com
plaints, and rendering the blood more impure nnd
as thousands have destroyed their constitutions
by neglecting to apply tho proper remedies to
such. Swaifn’s Panacea must he nnd has been
more than doubly valuable ns n certain and effec
tual means of restoring them to perfect health and
vigor. Few families are wholly exempt from
scorbutic affections which oxhibit various symp
toms, as eruptions, ulcerations, debility, loss of
appetite and dejection, all arising from impure
blood, and if not properly attended to, produces
tlio greatest injury to tho constitution, and may
he imparted to their offspring. Swaim's Pana
cea is recommended at tins season of the year, as
an invaluable restorative of tho system, thereby
invigorating the constitution and enabling us to
bear the debilitating effects of the summer season.
It is conveyed hy the circulating fluids, and cor
rects their tendency to all those diseases which
originate in a vitiated Idood, .diseased liver, de
praved appetite, or predisposition to eflection of
the lungs, &c. No one, however, is advised to
use it without convincing themselves of the truth
of what is here stated.
This medicine is now used with success in n’d
parts ofthe world, und is gaining greut reputation
in England.
From Dr. Vahntim Mott,
Professor of Surgery in the University of Now-
York, Surgeon ofthe N. York Hospital,&c.
1 have repeatedly used Swaim’s Panacea both
in ths Hospital and in private practice, mid have
always found it to he a valuable medicine in chron
ic, syphilitic, and scrofulous complaints, aud in
obstinate cutuneous affections.
VALENTINE MOTT, M. D.
From tlio various impositions which have been
practised by adulteration, &c. even to the extent
of perjury, for the purpose of imitating the .medi
cine, is sufficient to prove its efficacy in tlio dis
eases in which it has been sufficiently proven to
have cured. It is unnecessary to sny further in
relation to this Panacea, other than to caution tho
on 1 lie against the deleterious mixtrres which iiavo
been made to impose upon the ignorant. Tho

Itowiintf’s Tonic mixture.
M R. EDITOR—Much os fiio powers of this
favorite remedy huve been extolled, I can
not omit this opportunity ofdeclaringrmy decided
conviction that cvoiy account of the sanative vir
tues of tho M ixture will bo verified to the full ex
tent. Whatever he the character ofthe complaint
—whether unequal tertian—double or simple
quartan—however varied be it* type, attended
with syncope, apoplexy, vehement spasms, with
colduess and stupor—whatever its duration, whe
ther vernal or autumnal, laying the foundation for
visceral affections, and other slow hut unerringly
fatal maladies—however irregular in their inva
sion, and uncommon in their appearance*—in
fine, whatever he tho ago, idiosyncrasy, or habit*,
of tho patient, the complaint alike bids adieu on
thn duo administration of the Tonic Mixture.—
This is no high-wrought panegyric for fiio exper
iment. I spook only from what I positively know
—however successful- othor preparations mny.
have been, there can be little refiance placed upon
them when compared with this article. By strict
ly following the directions that accompany tho
bottle, wo find it acts upon tho most scientific
principle—for, it seems to anticipate the, return
of tho cold fit, and excites a strong reaction, nnd
powerful glow over tho whole system; nnd thus
to pre-occupy tho ground, and by disturbing tho
regularity ofthe type, to subdito the intermittent
altogether. Under such a course of medicine, I
have been astonished to notice with what linste
the disease bents alarm for a retreat, and the pros
trated strength uf_tbc sygtom rallies. It is a pow
erful, yet mild 'medicine—substituting calmness,
tranquillity,and balmy sleep,in place of pain,wea
riness, and restless nights—a renovation of long-
lost strength and robust health,, in lieu of feeble
ness and emaciation. And I confidently boliovo,
and I predicate my oninion upon tho most sub
stantial proof, that under whatever sky—in what
ever corner of tho earth—whether upon hill or
valley, wherever fever niul ngue makes its appear
ance, there also will "Rowand’s Tonic Mixture"
find its way—the happy desideratum, the perfect
antidote. N. LEE, M. p.
