‘‘Tlie.tr ac riches of life Is health.’
■\T7*E kmjv^thnt healdf and tho ahihty to labor
V V constitutes the wealth of tho great mass of ■
toe people in this, as in most other countries.. To
preserve, therefore, that health by natural meaus
is a grand moralnndpoliticnlsL*henie ( to fulfil which
raquiHM f>Mr utmost uttenlion. The unprece-
deutedpopularityauduniverfialapnrohatioii which
this medicine has achieved throughout the United
States, the Canadas, Texas, Mexico und the W eat
Indie*, fully justify Dr. Peters in warmly and con
scientiously recommending them to tho speciul at
tention of tlio ufllicted.
1 Dr. Peters has spent much time in experiment
ing with different Vegetable Medicines tor diseas
es of tlie liver, and now offers his Vegetable Pills
as Jhe best, most donvenient and cheapest Medi
cine that can be prqpared for general use.
One great quality of his Vegetable Pills is that
they have the alternative principle combined with
their cartliartic', or operative qualities, or tliat.they
not only cleanse tlie stomach und bowels hy pur
ling, but they regulate the liver, change the mor-
jid secretion, strengthen the digestive organs, pu
rify the blood, invigorate the circulation, and gives
toiie and endi-gy to the nervous system.
Thgy are mild and pleasant in their operation
and convey almost immediate conviction of their
utility from their first close. ' They can be taken
with safety by persons of any age; and the feeble,
the infirm, the nervous and delicate are strength
ened by their operation, because they clear tlie
system of had humors, quiet nervous irritability,
und invariably produce sound health.
Tlio Vegetable Pills aro a sure remedy for jaun
dice, sick and nervous headache, dyapepsy, cos
tiveuess, sickness of the stomach, heartburn, all
bilious complaints, fevers of all kinds, and if taken
at the commencement will invariably check their
progress, and save the patient from a protracted
and dangerous sickness. They are invaluable in^
nervous and hypocondrical uflections, loss of ap
petite, and nil complaints to which femqics alone
are subject. They operate as a uiild speedy purge,
and are a safe und certain remedy lor worms in
children.
Extract of a letter from Dr. Gurney, of Ncw-
Orleans. Ln.Oot. 9,1837.—“Ihave received much
assistance in my practice; especially in jaundice
and yellow fever; from the uso of Peters’Pills. I
presume that, on an average, I prescribe 100 box
es per month.”
Extract of;;Sutter fioui Dr. Pritchard, of Hud
son, Now-York, June3,1836.—'“J was aware that
Dr. Peters was oho of the best chemists in tlio U.
States, and felt assured that lie would some day
(from his intimate knowledge of the properties of
herbs and drugs) produce an efficient medicine,
and I must acknowledge that bis Vegetable Pills
fully respond to lily expectation. They aro, in
deed, a superior medicine and reflect alike upon
tUb chemist, the physician, and the phylosophor.’
Extract of a letter from Dr. -Waines, of Cin
cinnati, Feb. 2,*1838.—'Your Pills ore tho mildest
in their operations, nnd yet moat powerful in their
effects, of any I have ever met with in my prac
tice of eight and twenty years. Their action ou
the chyle, and hence on tlie impurities of tiieblood
is evidently Vory surprising.” •
C uah lot tv., N. C. Jan. 1,1837.
Dear Sir—I have made frequent use of. your
Pills in the incipient stage of bilious fever, nnd ob
stinate constipation of the bowels; also, in the en
largement of tho spleen, chronic diseases of the
liver, sick headache, general debility, nnd in all ca
ses have found them to he very effective.
J. D. Boyd, M. D. .
Mkoki/knburg Co, V>u. Feb. 7,1837.
Having used Dr. Peters’ Pills in my practice for
the last 12 months, I take pleasure iu giving my
testimony of their good effects in cases of dys
pepsia, sick headache, bilious fevers, and other
diseases, produced by inactivity of the liver.—
They ure a safe and mild aperient, being the best
article of tlio kind Fhave ever used. •

This celebrated Medicine is for sale hy nil the
principal Druggists in Savannah and throughout
file United Statos, tlie Ccmndus, Texas, Mexico,
nnd the.West Indies. Pried 50 cons per box, with
upwards of 9 thousand years, they had baffled the
wisdom and ingenuity of tho most profound phy-
siciatiH in all parts of tho World. This Cordial,
however, to the grew advantage of tho human
race, soon provod itself to he the desideratum so
long sought for; and accordingly, notwithstanding
the brief pcriod.of its existence, it bus acquired a
celebrity vo great, that it is eagerly Sought for
throughout the civilized globe. Dr. Mugnin soon
finding that the demand was so vast as to render
a supply impossible, disposed of tlio recipe and
right of sale, under obligations of secrecy, for
England and the United States, aud other coun
tries, only preserving France nud Italy for himself.
Thus ha<i tlie subscriber possesed lumself of tho
invuluoblo secret, and now hastens to give tho in
habitants of bio line uf agency tho benefits of his
speculation.
“Le Cordial de Lucine,” or, in English, “the
Lucina Cordial,” is ageneral invigoratorof the hu
man frame. A*In nil tho various cases of languor,
lassitude and debilitation, it is an unfailing reme
dy, as it is equally its provinco to impart cheer
fulness and decisiou to tno mind, os health aud vi
gor to the body. Bat the peculiar virtue on which
its'celebrity is oasod, is tho facility and certainty
with which it restores tho virilepdv^rs when they
have been destroyed by disease, time, reckless
ness, or any of tho numerous causes wliieh tertni-
mtn in th* prostration of those luuetioiis.
In common with the generality of reullv good
medicines, this Cordial contains nothing or a mer
curial or deleterious nature, among tlie many in
gredients which compose it; but is, at tho same
time, so simple, yet so efficacious, thui while if cun
renovuto the prostrated energies of a giant, an in
fant may use h, not only with impunity, but with
advantage.
. The usages of society aro unfortunately such
that, notwithstanding the benefits which would he
sure to result'from it, wc cannot enter into an an
alysis of this inestmiablejCorffial here, or publish
many of the documents which have been receiv
ed, us vouchers of the busings it has conferred on
numbers of despairing individuals. But tills we
cannot forbear remarking—that it has been de
monstrated that there is scarcely ever, if any such
thing at nil, ns natural barrenness, or as natural
imbecility of tlie procreant functions in either sex;
and. therefore, that those evils arc the effects of
artificial causes, nnd inay be speodily subdued nnd
removed hy the use of “Le Cordiul do Lucine.”
The Luciqa Cordial is also an indubitable cure
for the Gleet, and tho Fluor Albus, obstructed,
difficult ot*painful-Menstruation; also, for five
incontinence of Urine or tho involuntary dis
charge thoreof. It is likewise on invaluable and
unrivalled medicine in cases of Chronic Emip-
tions of tlie skin, aud in the dropsical affections
of the aged.
Most imnorfant to th<* American Public.
The'UniGId States proprietor of tho celebrated
Lucina Cordial, or Elixir of Lbve, begs to lay be
fore tho community, the following certificate,
which he has received from the inventor, tlie illus
trious Dr. Mngnin, of Parb:
“This is to certify, that I have disposed of the
recipe for malting the Lucina Cordial, or Elixir of
Love, and also the right to sell it throughout the
United States of North America, to John Winters
Jlolderwell, M. D. My reasons for so doing is,
that the demands to me for the above Cordial, of
which I am fiie inventor, ore so numerous, that I
am unable to supply all the orders fromFrnncennd
Italy alone; mid have therefore disposed of the
privileges vouchsafed in this aud other certificates
of a like nature, in order to generalise the benefits,
of my discovery throughout fiie world.
Given under my hand at Paris, on this nineteenth
