It is for the afflictive and troublesome symp

For Restoring the Hair.
T HE Casada Oil is so denominated, because it
is composed of vegetable ingredients, and its
virtues are pre-eminently displayed in tho follow
ing respects; It possesses properties of the most
salubrious nature, which eradicates the scurf and
all impurities of the lmir; nourishes the hair and
prevents its falling off, und lessens the liability of
hair to turn grey; strengthens tho weakest hair,
aud produces a luxuriant growth; gives a vigor
to the hair which soon produces an inimitably nut*,
ural curl, and prevents its falling out iu a damp
atmosphere, or duriug exercise; renders the hair
either natural or artificial, beautifully soil und
pleasant; bestows an inestimable gloss and pleas
ant perfume to the tresses—in fine, rondors the
huir dress transcendimtly beautiful, promotes the

A BEAUTIFUL HEAD OF HAIR is the
gruiuleat oiimuieul belonging to the humun
frame. How strangely the loss of it changes the
countenance and prematurely brings on the ap
pearance of old age, which causes many to recoil
at being uncovered, and sometimes even to shun
society to avoid the jests and sneers of their ac
quaintance; the remainder of their lives are con
sequently spent in retirement. In short, not even
tho loss of property fills the generous thinking
youth with that heavy sinking gloom as does the
loss of his hatr. To avert all these unpleasant
circumstances,Oldridge’s Balm of Columbia stops
the hair from falling off on the first application and
ft few bottles restores it again. It likewise produ
ces eyebrows and whiskers; prevents the hair
from turning grey, makes it curl beautifully, and
frees it from scurf. Numerous certificates of the
first respectability in support oftlie virtues of 01*
dridge’o Balm, are shown by tho proprietors.

♦Tlie true riches of life is health.’
W E know that healtii nnd the ability to labor
constimtesthe wealth of tho greut mass of
tne people in this, os in most other countries. To
preserve, thcrefpre, that health by natural means
is a grand moralandpoliticalschcme.to fulfil which
requires our utmost attention. The unprece
dented popularity nnduiiiversalapprobution which
this medicine hus achieved throughout die United
States, the Canadas, Texas, Mexicoand die West
Indies, fully justify Dr. Peters in warmly and con
scientiously recommending them to the special at
tention of the afflicted.
Dr. Peters has spent much time in experiment
ing with different Vegetable Medicines lor diseas
es of die liver, and now offers his Vegetable Pills
as die best, most convenient and cheapest Medi
cine that can be prepared for general use.
One great quality of his Vegetable Pills is tiiat
they have the alternative principle combined with
their cnrthartic, or operative qualities, or that they
not only cleanse the stomach and bowels by pur
ging, but they regulate the liver, change die mor
bid secretion, strengtiieh the digestive organs, pu
rify the blood, invigorate die circulation, and gives
toiie and energy to the nervous system.
They are mud and pleasant in their operation
and convey almost immediate conviction of their
utility from their first dose. They can be taken
with safety by persons of anynge; and tho feeble,
the infirm, die nervous and delicate are strength
ened by their operation, because tiiey clear the
system of bad humors, quiet nervous irritability,
and iuvariably produce sound health.
The Vegetable Pills are a sure remedy for jaun
dice, sick and nervous headache, dyspepsy, cos
tiveness, sickness of the stomach, heartburn, all
bilious complaints, fevers of all kinds, and if taken
at the commencement will invariably check their
progress, and save the patient from a protracted
and dangerous sickness. Thny aro invaluable in
iieivous and hypocondrical affections, loss of ap
petite, and all complaints to which females alone
ure subject. They operate as a mild speedy purge
and are a safe and certain remedy for worms ii:
children.
Extract of a letter from Dr. Gurney, of New
Orleans, La.Oct. 9,1837.—“Ihavc received much
assistance in my practice; especially in jaundice
and yellow fever; from the use of Peters’ Pills. I
presume dint, on an average, I prescribe 100 box
es per month.”
Extract of a letter from Dr. Pritchard, of Hud

LUCINA CORDIAL
Lc Cordial ae LhcIiic—Ou.I’Elix
ir tie PAmotfr. y\
FT1IIE subscriber has dip please ofjmnounc-
X ing to tho citizens of Ino United States, that
ho has purchased, for a very large sink und from
the inventor, the celebrated Dr. Magnin, of Paris,
tho recipe and right for inuking this astonishing
medicine. Until the appearance of tho “Lucina
Cordial,” (about three yenrs since) it was diougut
that tho complaints which it speedily overcomes,
were beyoua die reach of human remedy, ns for
upwards of a thousund years, they hud baffled the
wisdom und ingenuity of the most profound phy
sicians in all pi*rta of tiio world. This Cordial,
however, to the great advantage of die human
ruce, soon proved itself to be the desideratum so
long rouglit for; and accordingly, notwithstanding
the brief period of its existence, it has acquired a
celebrity so great, that it is eagerly sought for
throughout the civilized globe. Dr. Mugnin soon
finding that tho demand was so vast as to render
a supply impossible, disposed of the recipe and
right of sale, under obligations of secrecy, for
England and the United States, und odier coun
tries, only preserving France aud Italy for himself.
Thus hn« the subscriber possesed himself of tfca
invaluable secret, and now hastens to give die in
habitants of his line of agency die benefits of his
speculation.
“Le Cordial de Lucine,” or, in English,, “the
Lucina Cordial,” is agenerul invigoratorof the hu
man frame. In all the various cases of languor,
lussitude and debilitation, it is an unfailing reme
dy, as it is equally its province to impart cheer
fulness and decision to the mind, as heu|th und vi
gor to die body. But the peculiar virtuo on which
its celebrity is based, is the facility and certniuty
with which it restores the virile powers when they
have been destroyed by disease, time, reckless
ness, or any of tho numerous causes which termi
nate in die prostration of those functitms.
In common with die generality of really good
medicines, this Cordial contains nothing of a mer
curial or deleterious nature, among the ninny in
gredients which compose it; but is, at the same
time, so simple, yet so efflcacious, tiiat while it can
r(u>o>'otn *1— j.— nn-}n-
font may use it, not only witii unpuuity, but with
advantage.
The usages of society are unfortunately such
that, notwithstanding the benefits which would be
sure to rosult from it, we cannot enter into on an
alysis of this inestimable Cordial hero, or publish
many of tho documents which have been receiv
ed, as vouchers of die blessings it has conferred on
numbers of despairing individuals. But tiiis we
cannot forbear remarking-—tiiat it has been de
monstrated that there is scarcely ever, if uny such
tiling at all, ns natural barrenness, or as natural
imbecility of die procreant functions in either sex;
nnd, therefore, that those evils are the effects of
artificial causes, and maybe speedily subdued and
removed by the use of “Le Cordial de Lucine.”
The Lucina Cordial is also an indubitable cure
for the Gloet, and the Fluor Albus, obstructed,
difficult or painful Menstruation; also, for die
incontinence of Urine or die involuntary dis
charge thereof. It is likewise an invaluable and
unrivulled medicine in cases of Chronic Errup-
tions of die skiu, and in tho dropsical affections
of die aged.
Most important to die American Public.
Tho United States proprietor of die celebrated
Lucina Cordial, dr Elixir of Love, begs to lay be
fore tho community, die following certificate,
which ho lies received from die inventor, the ilius*-
tpous Dr. Magnin, of Paris: •
“This is to certify, dint I have disposed of the
recipe for making the Lucina Cordial, or Elixir of
Love, and also the right to sell it throughout dio
