Hamilton's Elixir of Opium.
A hot and important Dlecoeny.
r ' has l ong been a great dosMeratum In Medi
cal So'unco, and hua buen iho subject nf u vast
amount of Chemical experiment, to obtain tho
medicinal qualities of Opium to tho exclusion of
its noxious principle and usolesa combinations.
No article in the whole range ol tho Pharinnco-
pteta is perhaps of greater importance to mnn-
kind; and nono which lias engaged a greater share
of chemical attention. Every preparation hither
to made from this drug, whether in the form of
Extract, Mor|)hin,Black Drop,Paregoric or Laud
anum, contains in close combination a poison
with the antidote, and hence we find the adminis
tration of them attended with a numerous train of
evils, among which nre headache, lassitude, tre
mors, nausea, vomiting, constipation, derange
ment of the nervous system—and a quality won
derfully predisposing the system to its habitual
use; to obtain tlmreforo tho Snothitig Opiate and
Anti-Spasmodic Anodyne in nil its virtues separ
ate from the deleterious principle of of the drug,
has for a series of years engaged the profound at
tention of the author; it presented itself to his
mind ns a subject of great magnitude; the acqui
sition to tho Medical focnltv of ho important a re
medial agent, and the incalculable amount of hu
man misery thnt would bo alleviated by the dis
covery, havo been to him a sure guarantee that
lie would reap n rich reward for his labors, at least
in self-gratnlolion. Having satisfactorily tested
the Elixir in several hundreds of instances, he
has now the happiness of saying to the public,
that his labors nave been crowned with trium-
umphsnt success. J. HAMILTON, M. D.

To persons of disordered nervous system, or
tho.*e who arc unable to rest well at night, this
medicine is most emphatically recommended.
The inestimable value ofthis celebrated medicino
has been highly tested, and found not wantiug.
The Proprietor is daily receiving the most flatter
ing accounts of his success; and it it truly, gratify-
iug to say this iw emphatically the medicine of the
people! It is used by the Medical Faculty; sup-
>orted by the Clergy, advocated by the whole
Vew-York Press, and is in the house of most of
our citizens.
It may be token without the least fear of dnn
ger by children, and persons debilitated by dis
ease. In fine, the cares the Balsam of Liverwort
has already effected, and is hourly performing;
the consequent popularity it has obtained among
Uioso persons, who by experience are hestquall-
fiod to judge of its efficacy; the exalted opinion
entertained of its virtues by physicians; the con
sequent recommendation it receives from the
Medical Faculty—speak cogently and unequivo
cally of the merits and success of this medicine.
Invented by an old and very learned physician,
distinguished alike for his talent, research, and
experience; the confidence reposed by him in its
irresistible merits and its beneficial effects upon
him while severely aud lamentably diseased with
the most distressing symptoms of Consumption,
it being now snbjectto the advice and control of
three physicians, together with the many testimo
mala ana corroborating certificates which have
been voluntarily given u* by persons who have
received its potent and salutaiy effect, must go
far, very far, to recommend this as a Vegetable
Medicine of unequalled and undeniable virtue for
Consumption end all the diseases which prey up

A T length, has been discovered an infallible
jljl and invaluable remedy for the cure ofthe
most pbstinute chronic aud conimou cases of
Gonorrhoea in five days. The dangerous and
useless remedies which have hitherto been offer
ed to those who have unfortunately incurred the
above troublesome disease, is a subject which has
justly merited the ceusuro of tbe faculty, und pro
duced, ininauy cases, very serious ana alarming
effects. To guard against these abases, J. IL
Eustace has been induced to prepare a prepare-
cies of tumour and wound, witliout failure to pro
duce a cure iu every instance. I consider it tho
most decided and efficacious remedy iu all casps
of tumour, be the cause what it may,' and I have
found nothing so good for wounds of any des-
cription. It may be proper to odd* that the cure
ofa tumour called WItile Swelling, given over
by tire most distinguished physicians as incura
ble, and which they decided would, without am
putation, prove fatal to tho patient, was, under
iny immediate notice, effected by tho use of your
ointment, and the patieut is in fine health, his
limb affected by the tumour being restored to a
perfect state of soundness. Also, that the leg of
a man upwards of 80 years old, which had been
wounded, nnd exhibited one dreadftilly ulcerated
surface from knee to foot, and which, for more
than two years, hnd been considered incurable,
was effectually cured by the application ofthis
Ointmeut. .1 mention these two cases, which fell
under my immediate notice and management, as
a decided evidence of the efficacy of this remedy
in cases of tumour and of ulcers. I havo experi
enced aa decidedly, tho good effect ofthis remedy
in the cure of felons, andevory species of fresh
wound.
