White Sniphttr Pills.
A N opinion has been long entertaiued by in
telligent medical men, familiar with the use
of the waters of tho White Sulphur Springs in
Greenbrier couuty, Virginia, that the medical
virtues oflhese waters are mainly dependent up
on tlio saline ingredients which they hold iu so
lution. The correctness of this opinion has re
cently been abundantly established by the sana
tive effects which are exerted upon the system by
the salts of these waters obtained by careful evap
oration. The simple salts of the water thus ob
tained, although sufficiently strong, iu convenient
dose*, for many cases of disease, are, perhaps, as
a cathartic, too slow in their operation for general
use. To combiuo the specific virtues of the salts
ofthe water with a more speedy cathartjc effect,
it has been found advantageous, to unite with
the saline ingredients, very small portions of veg
etable purgative matter, nnd in this form tho arti
cle is now prepared under the lightsand sanctions
of experience, nud recommended, not as a puna
cca remedial for every disease, but as a valuable
alterative nnd cathartic medicine, ndnpted to o
variety of affections for which medicines of this
class tiro usually proper. For some time this med
icino has been prepared at the Springs nnd giveu
away to such individuals as desired it* use. The
calls' for it have, however, now becomo so fre
quent (its preparation being very troublesome)
it lias been thought expedient to prepare small
quantities of it for sale to. supply the public. It
will he found well adapted to many cases of Dys
pepsia, Liver Complu>nt8,Jnuiidico.Rheumulism,
Neuralgia, Chores!*, Cutaneous ^Eruptions, Ob
stinate Co* iveness, and may he used with per '
feet safety in anveuse ill which an alterative and
mild qptlinrtic effect are desired. Many intelli
gent persons familiar with the medicine, believe
it to do peculiarly adapted to the cure of those
chronic affections so successfully treated by the
use ofthe White Sulphur Water, but as yet, ex
perience with the medicine has been too limited
to justify any positive conclusion* upon this point.
It usually operates on the bowels, when taken in
n full dose in from three to six hours. At the
4 Springs,’where the medicine is much used, ad
vantage is thought to he derived (ram drinking
tho White Sulphur Water freely the morning
after it is taken, to work it off. though it is not re
garded ns very casantiul that any tiling should lie

Aclie. i
W HICH lias been used in families, every

and hns cured effectually in every instance yet
known, amounting to many hundreds. It is uoft
unpleasant to tho taste, and does not prevent di*

vered in, and Uie cure is gradual, but certain and
permanent. Instances are constantly multiply
ing where this distressing complaint i*complete
ly relieved nnd cured, although of years standing,
by the use of Dr. Spolm’s celebrated remedy.
One decided preference is its pleasantness, hav
ing none of Uie nauseatiug effects of common
drugs.
Iu all dyspeptic symtoros, costiveness, irregu

torpidity ofthe liver, the cure is perfect, and any

ties, Ac. have headache and dullness the next
day, wilt find this a sure preventive if taken at
bed time. For all common complaints, in a few
days its virtues will bo self-evident,ond acornpiefe
