Henry’s Genuine Calcined mag

I S highly beneficial iu all diseases of the stom
ach and bowels which nro attended with.acid-

The effects of excess in eating or drinking are
generally relieved by it, and it affords one of the
mildest and most pleasant aperients, especially
to persons who, from a sedentary life or other
causes, are under the frequeut necessity of hay
ing recourse to laxatives. To persons of n bil
ious or a gouty habit, it may bo recommended
with peculiar propriety: and its virtues have been
repeatedly testified in the diseases of warm cli
mates Many of the complaiuts of children, in
early infancy, and even at more advanced peri
ods, are attended with acidity; and in such cases,
the Calcined Magnesia lias a great advantage
over other absorbents, viz: that it both neutrali
zes tlio acid in the alimentary canal, and arts as
an efficacious yet gentle purgative.

ally, nre among the most tedious and disagreeable
affections to which the human IVame is liable.
Situated ns it were, on the verge of vitality it is
almost impossible to reach them by inward reme

of medicine, nr subjecting ourselves to the un
comfortable system of strict diet: such means by
reducing the system merely palliate the symptoms
while they nre in practice, to recur ns violently,

And the generality of external npplieationshnve
no other effect than the disease in one place, soon
to show itself in the same nr another part. When

Rowand’s Tonic Mixture, or
Vegetable' Febrifuge,
A spccificAnd lasting cure for Fever nnd Ague.
T HIS worthy remedy earnestly repels the slur
of being a qunek medicine, it having been
the result of many years study, experience and
labor, iu the medical practice aud observation of
Fever and Ague. It is composed of such medi
cinal principles as were considered most fit to re
store theharmony ofactionbetween the stooinch,
liver, and the other important functions of tho
system, the loss of which harmony is evidently the
immediate cause of the disease. It speedily pro
motes a regular and healthy appetite which is
generally entirely destroyed or rendered very
precarious; by which effect, vigor nnd strength is
soon afforded to the wholo system. It must be
apparent to all. that a medicine possessing these
peculiar, virtues, is useful in a groat variety of
complaints. By renewing the healthy action of
the digestive organs, it has proved itself of re
markable benefit in dyspepsia, depraved appetite,
heart-burn, water brash; flntnjeucy, jaundice,
night sweats, dysentery, bowel complaints, and
all other affections of similar origin, but it is in
tlio treatment of Fevers, nnd especially in Fever
and Ague, or Remittent Fever, that us powers
have been principally tested, and with those who
have seen its usefulness, it is pronounced sover
eign to ull remedies heretofore discovered fo
those diseases. It has also been used as a pre
ventive, by many who were subject to a periodi
cal recurrence of the chills nud fever, and it has
always warded off tho apprehended attack. It
wns deemed not improper to accompany the
vegetnblo fnbriftigo with a few of tho many une
quivocal certificate* politely furnished to tiro pro
prietor,corroborative ofthe foregoing statement*.
For further accounts of its great usefulness, see
pamphlets accompanying each bottlo.

T HE Cnpavia Bulm is. of nil the medicines
employed in combating the chronical and
acute gonorrhoeal aflVctions, also the blennorhoca
called whites; the only onn, the specific action of
which has never been doubted, and to which
physicians have in consequence given the prefer
ence; but its nauseous taste nnd smell, nro the
causes of its being reiectod by ninny patients.
This is tho reason why so many experiments
have beenmndoin order to discover some mode
of disguising its taste, so that it might be taken
with less ropugnniice; but hitherto Uiis lias been
but imperfectly effected, and ulways by addition
of some active substance which modifies its pro
perties, and thus destroys ita chemical constitu
tion and its physical character. I therefore offer
n mode of administering it in such a state that it
cannot occasion the slightest repugnance, and
this without submitting it to any alteration. My
method consists in enclosing it ill the Gelatiue
