General orders,
The adjutant general will again proceed
jo the annual convention of the field officers
of the rcfpectivr r gimentsand battalions ro
cth- with the brjg.uh* inlpc<slors of the bri

na,ts and such places as may be mos con
venient for all the field officers of such bri
gades, in order to in ft ru ft them in the dis
cipHne preferibed by congress, and in order
that the evolutions preferibed by law, may
be pradii fed.
The Brigadier general will order a com
pany of Light Infantry, or Fu fleers, to attend
each refpe&ive brigade convention of officers
—provided and equipped as the law direfls,
such corps to be.
conveniencies will ante in convening the
field officers in each brigade, and when from
various causes, theobjeCl of luch conventions
cannot be fully anlwered. The brigadier ge
neral of each brigade will in lieu thereof,
adopt such mode as he may deem best cal
culated for efledually inftrudling the field of
ficers in the defeipline preferibed : which end
the commander in chief is imprefled with a
belief can be best effected in brigades where
it may be found inconvenient to convene the
field officers, by ordering the field officer, or
officers in each regimental or battalion di
ll rid, to attend the adjutant general, when
the regimental or battalion officers a r e con
vened for the pur pole of being mllruded in
the difeipline and evolutions.

geant thereof, for the purpose of instructing
them in the said difeipline : And as it is of
the highest consequence that the privates
should be particularly taught the duty requir
ed of them in the field : the commanding of
ficers of therelpediv regiments febattaiions are
called on to act in concert with the adjutant ge
neral and brigade inspectors by ordering regi
mental an and battalion musters, at fucii time as
they may be notified by the adjutant ge
neral that he will attend them for that pur

The officers commanding regiments and
battalions within the firft brigade firft divisi
on, will have the lame paraded by eleven o
#ilock in the forenoon on the day relpedlive
ly appointed for each, armed and equipped
s the law diredls, in order to be infpedted by
the adjutant general.
Effingham county, batalion on Monday
28th February next.
Chatham county regiment on Thursday
third of March.
Bryan county battalion on Saturday, sth
March.
Liberty county battalion on Monday 7th
March*
MTntoih county battalion on Wednesday
March.
Glynn county battalion, on Friday nth
March.
Camden county battalion, on Wednesday
16th March.
The officers will attend in complete uni
form, and with their commiflions, and the
officers commanding companies are required
to furnilh the adjutant general on the day of
parade with returns of the fame, fpedfying the
number of commiffiooed, and non commis
sioned officers, and privates j and arms, ac-
coutrcments, &c.
The field and company officers of the
Chatham regiment, with the adjutant, and as
many nowcommiffioned officers as the com
manding officer of the regiment, may deem
uecefiary, to constitute a fufficient number
to perform the requisite evolutions, will con
vene on Wednesday the 2d day of March
next, at such places he may point out ; pro
vided with each a fufee, or musket, and the
requisite accoutrements : At which time and
place, ihe a(§u|*ot general and brigade in
ipc£tor,wiU at-tend for the purpofc of inflrufl-
ing them in thedifeipline precribed by Taw
The other counties within the brigade hav
ing only battalions j the adjutant general will
be enabled to execute the duties required in
one day, and confequently,after the infpedlion
is completed in thoie counties; the brigade in
fpeflor will agreeably to Law, form into a
company, in front of the battalion ; all ‘he
captains and subalterns, and the adjutant
thereof, taking in also, if he thinks proper, the
non-commissioned officers of each company,
and as many as may be ncceftjirv £0
conllitute a iuf fide nt number; and proceed
to inftru6l them in the manual exercise, and
such evolutions as the adjutant general m y
dirt cfl.
The brigade infpeftor, Major Lyon, will
take the neceffiary lleps to carry this order in
to efred, and will report such officers as mry

a bulky head and a fear on his throws had on
when he went away, a pair blue broad doth
overalls, a negro-cloth jacket, and had with
hrm a white broad cloth coat. A reward of
twenty dollars will be given if confined so
that l get him.
