QUEBEC, July 5.
Yesterday afternoon, about 5 o’clock,
was felt in this town a gust of wind from
the weltward, attended with heavy rain,
hail, thunder and lightning. The hail
{tones were in general, of the fuie of
piltol balls. With them fell solid pieces
of Iquare, round and oval ice. Some of
them about ‘an inch and a quarter in
length, by about three fourths to nine
tenths of an inch in thickness. The
writer of this paragraph had in his pos
.Kcifion lor more than a quarter of an
hour, a piece of the larged dimensions
dtferibed. The windows of molt 1 bull
dings, particularly elevated ones, expofed
to the est, fullered c.ufliderable damage.
-About one hundred panes of glaL are
shattered and cracked in the caftte of St.
Lewis; the coiut houle and--churches
have fuffered coufidetably ; the windows
of levcral dwelling homes have aifo been
much injured. The leaves of large plants
in the gardens are perforated and ton.
as if by grape lhot, and the tops of tender ,
flowers, .fitch as baii.a,iiiiie3, entirely beat
off.
