Captain B. entered an appeal from this
sentence, the jullice of which is so fla
grant, there is no doubt it will be rever

that he would fend his men to Jamaica

A great number of American veffeis
have been rectntly carried into Barracoa
by the French privateers, ami among
them the brig of Baltimore. This
vcffd failed from Jtrtrrie, on the 23d of
Ju'y. with a valuable cargo. She moun
ted 16 guns, had on hoard -J4 men, and
was commanded by capt Wm Kenne
dy—On her passage, (he fell in with the
French privateer Superb, capt. Domini
que, of 6 gun,*, and 87 men—They
fought one hour, during which time ihe
Fre chmcn made three attempts to board,
but wrre repulftd—the fourth time,
however, th. y succeeded—Capt. Ken
nedy, his boatswain, boatswain’s mate,
and ten men were killed before the pvi
vateersmrn got poffcffnnof the Jane, and
the firft mate and two men were kdlled
afterwards, and f-vjn men wounded.—
The Frenchmen had 25 killed and woun
ded, A Mr. Fanning, fnpercdrgo of
the schooner , capt. Fi'ch, of
Baltimore, who had taken his passage ia
the Jane, was thrown overboard, and
endeavouring to swim to the privateer,
was wantonly {hot while in the water.
The ctew of the Jane were cruelly trea
ted by the privateersmen, and plundered
of every thing.

late Aberdecnfhire regiment.
The schooner Martha and Mary,
Ford, of Baltimore, had been taken by
a Spanish privateer, which followed her
out of the por-, and carried into a small
port adjacent, where ihe wa* plundered ;
but was afterwards released, and had fail.,
ed for St. Jago de Cuba.
