drivers, will set out from Trenton in New-Jer
sey to Savannah via Augusta in Georgia, on or
about the 15th of September next. The t mite
through Pennsylvania, Virginia and the Caroli
nes, will be confined as much to the neighbor-,
hood of the mountains, as the good roads thro
the country will allow. The journey will be
leisurely taken, so as to consume from four to
live or even six weeks, dependent somewhat on
the iucli ation of the persons who may become
passengers.
Those who are disposed to engage seats for
the above described journey, can do so by ap
plying to the Post-toaster at Savannalu Prior

numbering the first applicant one, which wiil
entitle that person to the first selection, and so

to alter the Constitution of this state, so as for
the people to have tile electing of Governor,

AN ACT
To alter Slid amend the 2d section of the se -
cond article of the constitution of tlie State of
Georgia.
Whereas, the 2d section of the 2d article of
the Constitution, is in the following words i
“ ‘File Governor shall be elected by the Gen
eral Assembly, at .heir second annual session,
after tlie rising of this convention, and at every
second annual session thereafter, on the second
day after the two houses shall be organized and
competent to proceed tojbusiness.,, —And where

Commander in Chief of the Army aid Navy,
of this State, and of the Militia ther of.
Whereas, in and bv an act of the I.ej islature
of this state, passed 21st December, 1851, enti
tled “ An Act to regulate the future . lections
ofiMembers of Congress in this state,” it is de
clared “ that so soon as his excellency he Gov
ernor shall obtain the law of Congress Icing the
ratio of Representatives to be electee lor the
National Legislature, agreeably to the kte cen
sus, it shall be his duty to issue his proclamation
announcing the immbe of Representatires this
state is entitled to and whereas the Congress
of the United States have by as act for tlie ip
portionment of Representatives among the se
veral states according to the forth census, pas
se 3th March, 1822, declared that the State of
Georgia after the third day ol March, stall
lie represented in the Iloust of Representatives
of the U. States by seven representatives.

ten one hundred dollar notes of the Bank of
the United States, signed by W. Jones, I’resi
dent, and Jona. Smith, Cashier, of the numbers
and tenor described below, were placed in the
post-office at Philadelphia on the evening of the
L>tb December, 1820, inclosed in a letter by J.
8. lid. Hobson, to Joshua Milne at Savannah in
Georgia, which letter was never received ; and
as the entire mail of the 14th Dec. from Phila
delphia to Savannah miscarried, the belief is
that tlie said letter and notes were stolen or
robbed from the mail. Application having been
made to the bank by tlie subscriber for the pay -
inentofllie whole of said notes, all persons
concerned are requested to take notice.

On Thursday, I'ie first day of August, the
Semi-Annual Examination of the Freshman
Class will take place. On Friday the 2d, the
Sophomore Class will be examined.—On Satur
day the 3d, the Candt dates for admission into
College from the Preparatory School, will be
examined.—On Sunday the 4th, a Commence
ment Sermon wiil be delivered in the Chapel.
On Monday the sth, the Junior Class will be ex
amined.—On Tuesday the 6th, the Junior Class
will deliver original Orations, and on Wednes
day the 7th, will be the Annual Commencement.
