Great Excitement in Doniphan. •—The War Commenced.—We take the following from the Squatter Sover eign extra: We learn from Mr. Newman of Doni phan that Samuel Collins, of that place, was killed, this morning about sunrise, by Pat. Laugklin. As far as we have been able to learn, the circumstances are as follows: Mr. Laugtilin recently made an ex position of the midnight organisation existing among the Abolitionists in the Territory, called the Grand Encamp ment and Regiment of the Kansas Le gion.” Collins, it seems, was Colonel of one of the regiments, and determined to force Mr. Laughlin to a retraction or kill Mm. In accordance with this determina tion, be and some twelve brother Aboli tionists proceeded this morning to seek out Mr. Laughlin, and demand an un qualified retarction of his recent confes sion, and upon Mr. L's refusing to make suty concession whatever, Collins imme diately snapped his gun at him (Laugh- . j 1in)and then fired at him. but fortunately j saw to make arrangements ft* a renew the weapon was turned aside by a specta- »l of the peace negotiations, tor.
