Ou Friday afternoon last several mem- bers of onr police force noticed a man named Eberhart, who had come to the city and sold some cottou, in company with a young man named Bichard Ciower, who is also from another county, going to a bar room quite olten and drinking pretty freely. This aroused the suspicions of the police, and they determined to keep an eye on them. They finally heard Ciower make ar rangements to take the other man to a wagon yard, where he could put up for the night, and a short time afterwards, seeing Ciower come in from an opposite direction and go into a store, a policeman who knew he had no money the night before, follow ed him and found him spendiflg money pretty lavishly for clothiug, Ac. This fact was reported to Capt Cobb Davis, Chief of Police, who ordered the ar rest of Ciower on suspicion. ..Mr. Eberhart was then searched for and found, and upon examination, he stated that he had been robbed ot some twenty odd dollars. Ciower was held until Saturday morning, when he was brought before Judge Thomas, of the County Court, where be plead guilty to the charge ot larceny from the person, and was sentenced to pay a fine of $60 and costs, or eight months on the county chain gang.^ Our police force deserves great credit for the manlier in which they worked up” this eaaey as the first inURifftkra 51iv Eberhart had ot haviDg been robbed was when he was .awakened by a policeman A C«rrat mistake* In the last issue of the North Georgian we find this item: “Cottonon Tuesday brought 10 cents here, while it was only worth 9$ in Atlanta and Athens.” We are satisfied our respected coteui- ■ii*? fa has uot sold in this market for less than .10 cents siuce the opening of the preseut ."Jrseason, and wo do uot know that it has See card ot these young physicians, who ’ , „„ , , 1 been that low.
