On Monday last, the 30th inst. a white Ilorse,
with but one eye, and a short rope round his
neck, supposed to be about 9“years old, was ta
ken in to my yard, having been about the neigh
borhood some time. The owner by calling at
the printers, and paying changes, may have his
Horse at any time by calling at my house, being
7 miles and a half from Savannah, on the White
bluff road.

J. HE directors of the bank of the state of Geor
gia will on Friday the Ist of .January next, at 11
o’clock, a. >r. at the banking house in Savannah,
appoint smen directors to preside over the office
of Discount and Deposit established at the tow n
of Eatonton, in the county of Piunam ; and also
the same number for the office established at
Greensbeuough in the county of Greene, who
shall continue in office until the 3d Monday in
May, when and at which time in every succeed
ing year the said appointments will take place.
The board of directors will at tiie same time
and place, appoint a cashier for each of the offi
ces aforesaid, with a salary ®f twelve hundred
and fifty dollars per annum, who will be required
to give bond with two or more good and suffi
cient securities for the faithful discharge of the
duties required of them, in the sum of thirty
thousand dollars.—Candidates for the appoint
ment of cashier, will address their applications

transact their Factorage and Commission busi
ness having been destroyed by the fire which
took place in the night of the 20th inst. they
hasten to inform their distant friends that by
means of the timelyassistance afforded them by
the spirited exertions of many respectable inhab
itants, they have saved their commercial books
and papers, as also a great proportion of the
produce which they had on hand. They inform
them also that they have engaged storage for
the produce or other articles that shall be here
after consigned to them, in mr. Bolton’s fire
proof stores, and that they shall, untill further
notice, transact their commercial business in
the counting room of messrs. Richard Richard

Screven and John Screven, executors of the
estate of the late Charles Odingseels, praying
for leave to sell and dispose of the real estate—
and the said petition for the said sales appearing
fair and satisfactory to this court :—lt is ordered,

ded their application to this honorable court for
this purpose, be published in any two of the

At Private Sale,
A. Tide swamp Plantation on the great Oge
ehce l iver, and known by tiie name of mount
Prosper, the property of messrs. William and
Ralph Elliott. This tract is situated two miles
below Hills’s bridge, at a good pitch of tide, and
is fifteen mile’s distant from Savannah, by land.
It contains one thousand acres, of which more
than six hundred are river swamp, the remain
der high land, part of it well calculated for the
culture of cotton—of the rice land two hundred
and seventy acres are under darn, and ready for
cultivation ; and one hundred acres more, being
clear of trees, and partly dammed in, could ea
sily be prepared for the coming year.
The settlement is on a high knoll, and has
accommodations for an overseer and a hundred
negroes. There is also on the premises, a tide
Mill of a plain construe* ion, which performs
well, and after beating the crop is profitably
employed on toll. The proprietors will dispose
of tliis plantation on very reasonable terms, and
will divide the tract (if required) to suit pur
chasers.
