Letters from the province of Podali; , afiert, that about 1500 Poiilh euiigran are allcaibled in Moldavia ; among them are the celebrated brigadiers Wolyjko, Dcnifko, Ltberadzky, and kveral other leaders, who have diftinguilhed theui felves in the iate revolution. Lately the; made an incurlion into Podalia, difperled a patrole of Ruffian Boflacks, and after having pulhed as far as Swan ieze, they polled up manifeffos, wherein they formally prorelt againil the parti tion ot Poland, and declare that with the help of God, they expected to reitore thei-r country to its former independence, and re-eftabiiih the Conilitution of the _jd oi May, as the only one adapted to Poland, and univerially cherished by the. people. Alter having done this, they letreated again to former nations* April 4. The fear of many people here, that new commotions would break out in Poland, is now unhappily but too weii grounued : The'commotions l ave al ready broke out. Anew confederation-* has made its appearance in the Ukraine. Light thouia..a armed Poles, ail vete rans ot the PQiilh army, who, at the time the Kuli.ans took poiieflion ot Poda iia, retreated to the ‘1 urkilh territory, have lately appeared in the neighbour liood of Kaimniez, Fcdollky, and at in the territory heid by the Kutiians, they issued a manitelto to the Pclifh nation, and alterwards retreated ; they are ted on by Lejusko, Koll gls k o and J. leueral> elk y . The inamielto, which lhews that the confed erates cepend en the support ot the Ot tpiuan Purte, is in .the Kinds of many’ periods in this city. . ‘ \ ..• • ‘ ... - , , VIENNA, April 6. The Imperial Internundo at Constan tinople has informed our court, that a rupture between Rufftaand the Porte, is very probable ; that the latter strain eve ry nerve in order to put her naval and land forces on a refpedtable footing, but that the Turkilh miniltry avoid every thing that could give offence to Aullria WESEL, April 2. The head quarters of Gen. Jourdan, are now removed to Wittich, close by the Mofelie. The bambre and Meuse armies, and probably ail the others, are now paid in mandates, which are bringing into com pullory circulation. The forced loan is rigoroully exaded in the provinces on the other tide; in every town are Soldiers planted, to halten the payments, which are ali to be made by the firil of April. BRUSSELS, 8 Germinal. The administration are ft raining ev ery nerve in providing our army with every thing they can Hand in need of, in order to the opening of the campaign. Recruits, hories, parks of artillery, provisions, and ammunition of every des cription, cover the roads which lead to the Rhine. It is cpmputed, that from the firft of March, the army of the Sam bre and Meuse has received an acceflion of 20,000 hories for the saddle, the wag gons, and artillery. The magazines are overstocked, and should war be determined upon, there will be no obffacies to the immediate march of the Republican troops. April i. The day before yesterday Gen. Mo reau pafled thro’ this town, on his way to Paris. He is expefted to return with all poflible expedition to take upon him the command of the arnfy of the Rhine. April 28. A courier haspaffed through this ci ty, who is supposed to carry orders from the Diredory to Gen. Jourdan, to put an end to the armistice, and commence hoflilities immediately, A part of our numerous garrison will march to the army on the Rhine. HAMBURGH, April 19. - The Princcfs of Orange whole inten ment... in his em. made terrible i mentioned also one ered near HoUvood, Pi ttJ on whole collar w the words “ Right Honorable and that nothing but the high title have saved the right honorable Iheep. killer from just pufiiihineut. Of’ the 43 (hips so long expefted from Jamaica 20 arrived, 4 returned to port, 7 are known to be taken by the French, and the remaining 12 have probably (hared the fame late. ‘ , / The forced loan has mbt with ftich success that the aflignats have entirely disappeared in France. This circum stance lavors particu arly the circulation of the mandates, as many citiv.ehs who are flill in arrears have no other choice left but to pay in calh or fubferibe for mandates. We are authorized to announce that a great many Americans residing in Ffol land, -England, and other European states, are drawing up an address to be prelented in the name of their country men to the Emperor for the delivery of La Fayette. ’ s * Aprh *5. Much tas already been laid relative to the milunderllanding which had taken place be tween the Courts oißufliaand Sweden. Noth* ing however can place in a clearer light the re lative political fuuation ot thrle two powers, and the principal causes df their difunh n, than fhenote lent the firft of April, by the Baron de Bud berg, Charge d’Atlaires Irom Ruffe-*, at Stockholm, relative to the non-ad.miffion of M. de Schwerin, who went to P'-terfburg’ lor the purpose of notifying the marriage about to take place between liis Swedtfh Majesty and the Princess Mecklenbourg Schwerin. “ The Empress having given orders to M. the Count D Oftermaun, to acquaint the Swe dish Arahaffcidor, that the million of M. de Schwerin not being agreeable to her Maj'-fty, he could not be admitu and ; the Charged’ Aftairs (M. deßudberg) had received orders to declare that the motive of this refufal was founded, as much on the unfriendly proceeding of the Re gent, as on the principles of his political con duft with regard to Ruflia. Both the one and the other being diametrically opposite to those ties of afieftion, of friendfhip, and of good neigbourhood, which, originally have been the baits of this fort of millions, and which have never been adopted between Courts, which were not united by ftmilar ties, or being so, have not taken care to cultivate and fulfil the duties of them. That this was the situation, as to Ruflia, in which Sweden had been placed, since the Duke de Sudermania, who holds the reins of government, not content wi;h having formally infultcd her Majesty t! e Empress, in endeavoring to surprise her by insidious ar.d delusive overtures and propositions, entered in to a public treaty with the French Aflembly, with thole men who solemnly infultcd the me mory of the late king, by eretfing a monument to the memory o f his execrable aflaflin. That her Majesty the empress, was neither ignorant of the motive nor the objetl of hose trrati'-s. That it was notorious, that the Regent had re cently received fr m the French a sum of mo ney to be employed in armaments, and that be was now in full negotiation with them for a treaty of alliance, the principal {Emulations’ of which were dire&ed agai.nft Ruflia ;• so that her Majesty the empress had every reafbn to rxpr& an approaching rupture on the part of Sw<d # n, unless the King’s coming of age, (which, happily for therepofe of that kingdom and the North, was an event not far distant) should put a flop to it, and thereby avoid ibis lamentablfc extremity.” VERONA, April 21. On the 13th, the Marquis Charlotte, a Vero nese nobleman, gave notice, on the part of the of Venice, to the Count de Provence (Louis XVIH.) that he was requested to re move as soon as poflible from the Venetian teV ritPr es. To this unexpeiled notification, for which h< had not been ill the lead prepared, he replied, “ I will go, but under two condi tions. ’ “ 1. Let the golden book be brought me, in which the names of my family are mferibed, that I may strike mine out with my own haml. “ a. Let the afmour be delivered to me, which my ancestor, Henry IV. presented to the republic, as a token of iitrr.dlViip.” This answer appears to have ddpieafcd the Venetian Noble, rringiy, Podefta. or governor of Verona, Who the next day, frnt the ft r,e no bleman to the Count, with his proreftations: the latter answ ered, “ What I have demanded, is a duty I owe to myfelf, and Ido not forget that I am king of France.” The Count im mediately set oli for theCctidean army.
