NOTICE isherbygiven, That sealed Pro
posals will be received at the Cuilotn
lioufe in this city, until the lft day of Novem
ber next inclusive, for tl.efupply of ail Rations
which may he required for the use of the Uni
ted States, from the ift of January to the 31st
i>i December, 1797, both days inclusive, at the
places and within the diftrifts herein after men
tioned.
At any of the Polls from Fort St. Tammany,
on the River St. Mary, to Fort Fidius, on the
River Oconie, both inclusive.
At any of the Polls from Fort Fidius, on the
River Oconie, up to the mouth of the main
louth branch ot the said River called Apala
t hie ; Irom the said mouth up to the l’ourcc of
the said main south branch, and from thence
to the Curahee mountain.
At any other place or places within the flute
of Georgia, which may hereafter be occupied
as permanent polls by any troops in the lervice
of the United States.
And for rations dclivired on the march to
such future Polls.
The Rations to be supplied, are to consist of
the following articles, viz.
One pound of Bread or Flour,
One pound of Beef, or § of a pound of Pork,
Half a gill of Run), Brandy or Whilkey,
One quart of Salt, )
Two quarts of Vinegar, ( Rations
Iwo pounds ot Soap, f r
One pound of candles, )
The Rations are tobefurnilhed in such quan
tities as that there (hall at all times, during the
laid term, be fufficient for the coufumption of
the troops at each of the said polls, for the
space of at leall two months in advance, in
good and wholesome provisions.
It is to be undcrllood that all losses fuftalned
ky the depredations of the enemy, or by means
the troops of the United States, fliall be
paid for at the prices of the articles captured
or destroyed, on the depositions of twoor more
credible characters, and the certificate of acom
milfioned officer, afeertaining the circumftan
ccs of the lols, and the amount of the articles
lor which compensation is claimed.
The contract for the above fupplics will be
made either for one year, or for two years, as
may appear eligible. Persons difpofedto con
tiatt, will therefore confine their offers to one
year, or they may make their propositions so
as to admit an election of the term of twt>
years.
The proposals mull fpecify the lowcft price
per ration for prompt payment, and are to be
made lor the whole of the above polls.
