BE it enaCted by the senate and house of re
prefentative3 of tjie state of Georgia, in general
assembly met, That from and immediately after
the firft day ofOftobcr next , no perfonJhall put on
board, or receive into any/hip, brigantine,/crooner,
foop, bylandcr, boat or other ve/el, in orde rto be
exported therein, any ginned or picked cotton which
Jhall not have been packed in hags, containing there
on the name of the person whoJhall have infpefted
the fame according to the dir ell ions of this all ;
that any maser of a Jhip or velfel, who Jhall receive
on board, any ginned or picked cotton in weight
more than forty pounds, and which Jhall not be
packed in bales, containing thereon the name of the
per/on in/pelling the fame, Jhall forfeit and pay
two hundred dollars for each quantity that may be
Cos received , one moiety thereof to the use of the in
former, and the other mo'ety to the use of the state.

any court of record.
And be it further enaCted, That the infpeflors
herein appointed or that may hereafter be appointed,
Jhall receive one eighth of a dollar for every hun

cotton for infpcßion ; and shall each of them pro
vide a fafe and dry place for the purpose of keeping
the cotton that may be ir.fpeblea by them until the
famefhall be demanded by the owner ; when upon
returning the receipt obtained fur the depo/t of the
fame, and paying ten cents per hundred weight for
theforage thereof, it Jhall be delivered accordingly.
