335 jfcWesu A SON G. AfY mind to me a kingdom is ; Since perfeft joy therein I find, As far exceeds ad eaithly blif, That God or Nature hath affign’d ; That much I want that mofl would have, Yet dill niy mind forbid* to crave. Content I live, this is my flay, I feck, no more than may iutfice ; I press to bear no haughty sway ; Look, what I lack my inind fupplics, Lo ! thus 1 triumph like a king, Cont> l with that my mind doth bring. I fee how plenty forfeits oft, And hasty climbers foonell fall ; t fee that Inch as fit aloft Mifhap.doth threaten rr.oft of all; Yhcie get with toil and ioie with fear r Such cares my mind could never bear. No princely pomp, nor wealthy store, No force to win a victory, No wily wit to salve a fore, No shape to win a lover's eye ; To none of these I yield as thrall, For why ? my mind defpifeth all. Some have too much, yet more they crave ; I little have, yet seek no more ; They are but poor, though much they have, And I am rich with little {tore ; They poor, I rich, they beg, I give ; They leek, I lend, they pine, I live. I laugh not at another’s lofi, 1 grudge not at another’s gain ; l N worldly wave my mind cantofs : I brook that is another’s bane, I fear no foe, nor fawn no friend ; I loath not life, nor dread mine end. My wealth is health, and perfeft ease ; My confeience clear, my chief defence : I never leek my bribes to please, Nor by desert to giveoifence; Thus do 1 live, thus will I die; Would all did so as well I ! ! 1 take no joy in earthly bliss ; I weigh notCroefus’ wealth a straw ; For care, I care not what it is ; I fear not Fortune’s fatal law, My mind is such as mav not move For beauty bright or force of love, I wifb br!t what I have at will ; I wander not to seek for more ; I like the plain—l climb no hill : In greatetl dorms i lit on shore, And laugh at them that tori in vain To get what mult be 101 l again. t I kiss not where I with to kill ; I feign not love where moll I hate : I break no Qeep to win my will ; I wait not at the mighty’s gate ; Ifcorn no poor, I fear no rich ; I feel no want, nor have too much. The court, ne cart, I like ne loath ; Extremes are counted word of all ; The golden mean betwixt them both Doth surest fit, and fears no fall ; This is my choice ? for why I find No wealth is like a quiet mind. fi rr wi iiw iiwrii ir i 111 inn i ww wm CAPITAL SAW-MILLS. following very valuable prop, rty, is X offered for Eight thousand four hundred acres of LAND in Winton County, South-Carolina, on a creek called the New Three Runs, with the valuable Saw (A Grist Mills thereon.
