JL Savannah, merchant, who lately
removed to Great-Britain, did on the
fifth day of January last, by deed„of as
signment duly executed, transfer & assign
to the fubferiber, all mortgages, judg
ments, fpeciahies, notes, books of ac
counts, and other evidences of debt, due
to the said John Cunningham, and to
John Cunningham & Cos. for the pur
pose of paying and f;;isfying a judg
ment obtained in behalf of ‘Simpfon Sc
Davifon, of London, merchants, against
the laid John Cunningham, in the Cir
cuit Court of the United States, for
the diftrirt of Georgia, in the term 01
April 179.6. All perfons'indebted to
the said Cunningham, or John Cun
ningham Cos. are requested to make
payment to the fubferiber, before the
fir ft day of April next, at which time
suits will be commenced indiferiminate.

9 indies high, thickfer, has a downcast
look, had on when he went away, a round
black hat, Ihort round blue jacket, |and
black breeches, speaks but little Englilh,
a native of Guadaloupe ; the other named
John Louis , about 5 feet 5 inches high,
rather of a {lender make, had on when he
wer. away, oznabrig trowfers, a (hort
blue round jacket, and round hat. Twen
ty Dollars reward wi.l he given to any
person that will apprehend said Negroes,
and deliver them at the Federal Goal, or
at the common Goal ; and One Hun
dred Dollars to any person that will in
form of theirt>eingharbored. All mas
ters oi veficls are cautioned against car
rying off or employing said Negroes.

the said sloop, and also, for necelfarits
furnilhed. You are therefore com
manded, that you cire and admonish,
and these are to cite and admonish the
master, owners, and all other persons
who have or pretend to have any right,

wharfoever.in, to, or upon the said sloop,
to be and appear before the honorable
Joseph Clay, jun. Judge of the said

by Mr. Robertson.
Rfolved, That notice be given in the
next Gazettes of the city, forbidding
the faleof Twenty-five Negroes, adver
tized by Mr. Norment, tax collector of
Chatham county, as being forfeited to
the state.
i he said Negroes being confined by
the Corporation, under the following
clause of a law of the state, entitled, an
aft to organize the Militia, in the sev
eral new counties of this state, palfed
the 22 t February, 1796, as measures
have been, and are now taking by the
Corporation, for carrying the said clause
into effeft, viz.
‘ f And be it further etiatteA, That the
“ officers of the Militia in the firft
“ Brigade, in the firft division, (hall be
“ authorized and empowered, in their
“ refpeftive patrole diftrifts, to appre
“ hend any Negro, Muftee,or Mulatto,
“ Freeman, or Freemen, Slave, or
“ Slaves, who fliall hereafter arrive in
“ an y of this state, from any of the
“ Weft-India, or Bahama lilands, and
“ to keep such Muftees, Negroes or
“ Mulattoes, in close and fafe custody,
“ until they can be examined before the
“ Corporation of Savannah, or any three
“ justices of the peace, lor any of the
“ counties lying in the said division,
“ w Bo are hereby authorifed to cause
“ such Freeman, or Freemen, Slave, or
“ Slaves, to be exported at the expence
“of the importer or owner, which
“ such importer or owner, is herebv
“ made liable for, as well as for the ex
” pence of apprehending, or keeping

with an especial view to cultivate an
intercourse with you, which we trust may be
reciprocally beneficial, we avail ourselves of
