‘\e pnrpofe of introducing a eenfure on
[>,• parties charged with mifeonduft:
t f,is motion being declared not in order,
hV the fpeaker, an appeal was made by
ivj r . Nicholas, upon which the house
concurred with the fpeaker.
Mr. Harper then proposed to intro
duce into the resolution, words exprefl
ji-e of eenfure on the conduft of capt.
M'Knighr and lieut. Reynolds, declar
ing it “ indifereet and improper.”
tJivan this motion a debate ensued.
Mr. Nicholas, after the reading of
the journal, observed, that as much in
convenience bad refolred from having
that part of the lobby which was meant
‘for members, crowded by fpeftators, he
hoped that orders would be given to of
ficers of the house, to refufe admission
thereto, in future—except to the officers
of govcrnm"nr, and others to whuJVi
special indulgence may be granted.

In nur paper of Tnurfday last, under
theNew-YorJc bead, it was mentioned,
that the schooner Fair American, of this
pon, had been taken by the French,
and that the captain and crew were
murdered by the cap>ors. It is with
great pleasure we are enabled to flare
that this report, so far is relates to the
mufdcr of the crew, is unfounded. Cap
tain Divis and his people were put on
board a veiled bound to the northward,
which had been taken by the fame pri

count of her being in ballast—They
have since arrived in fafety.
