I. Applications for infurauce on proper

VI. This Company will be liable for
losses on property burnt by lightning, but
not for any loss or damage by fire happen-,
ing by means of anv Invasion, Insurrec
tion, riot, or civil commotion, or of any
military or usurped power.
VII. Books of account, written securi
ties or evidences of debt, title-deeds, wri
tings,money or bullion, are not deemed ob
jects of lufurance.
VIII. Jewels, plate, medals, paintings,
statuary, fculpturesttnd curiosities, are not
deemed to lx; included in any Inlurance,
lintels fpecified in the policy.
IX. All persons insured by this compa
ny, and fuflaming loss or damage by fire,
are forthwith to give notice thereof to the
Company ; and as soon after as polfible to
dtliver in a particular account of such loss
or damage, (ightd with their own hands,
and verified by their oath 01 affirmation,
and also, if required, by their books of ac
count and other proper vouchers; they
lhail also declare on oath, whether any and
what other inlurance has been madeon the
lame pioperty, and procure a certificate
under the hand of a njggiflrate, notary pub
lic, or Clergyman (Fnoft contiguous to the
place of tlie Gre, and not concerned in the
loss) that- tliey are acquainted with the
character and ciicumlbmces of the person
or persons insured, the he, Ihe, or they,
really and by misfortune, without fraud or
evil pradice, hath or have fuftdined by such
fire, loss and damage to the amount there
in mentioned ; and until luch pit Is, dec
larations, and certificates are produced, the
loss fliall not be deemed payable.—Also,
if tiiere appear any fraud or falle swear
ing, the claimant lhail forfeit all claim by
virtue of this policy,
X. Payment of lodes fliall lie made in
sixty days after tlie loss lhail have been as
certained and proved, without any deduc
tion whatever ; and in case differences
(hall arise touching any loss or damage, it
may be submitted to the judgment of arbi
trators indifferently chosen, wiiofe award
in writing shall be binding on the parties.
XI. Inlurance may be riiade for seven
years, by paying the Premium for six years;
and for a less number of years than seven,
a reasonable discount Hi ill be allowed.

Latin. The Prefideiit and Dir*dors are
determined to maintain and promote, as
much as in their power, the fttidy of that
language, as the balls of a literary educa
tion. However they daily receive so nw :

think it convenient to comply with the de

to this College, unless they have previous
ly alcertained, by a letter from tlie Presi

200 Dollars Reward,
Will be paid in the Following manner,
for tlie apprehending of a runaway Negro,
named SAM, generally called old Sam*
and sometimes calls hinifelf SamOibßs.
He is a (hrewd r artful, elderly fellow,
perhaps upwards of 50 ; is very plausible
and remarkably intelligent. H*d. on when
he left the lub criber, a brown homespun
coat, and white overalls, also an old flraw
hat; he will be found felling’ fifli (being
a great fidierman) in Savannah market, or
ikulking about Savannah ; probably may
comradi with l'ome fiflierman to tell for
him. Being a fellow moll artfully, and
mischievous, and evilly disposed, and from
a well tried knowledge of his attrocious and
villainous disposition, the fafety of tlie
town of Savannah is by no means fccure,
white Sam skulks about it.
The following sums, will, without any
difficulty be paid on his apprehti lion, as
follows:
Ist. One hundred and twenty Dollars,
will be paid, on his being lodged in any
Gaol in the United States, information
being made to the fubferiber at Well’s Post
Office, with proof fuflicieat of his being
haibored by any white man, on his being
convicted of the offence.
2d. Twenty Dollars on the above being
done in the apprehension, with proof fuffi
cient to conv id any fret man of harbor
ing him, or fpeakir g to him, while absent
from his employment.
3d. ‘Fen Dollars on such information,
sent me to Well’s Poll Office, a* will ena
ble me to take him, and poof to convld
any (lave of harboring, or being seen with
him while out ofmy (ervices.
4th. Fifty Dollars on bis being deliver
ed to me at Well’s Poll Office, South-
