A short Proclamation.
Whereas, it hath been declared by the
Calender for the year 1814, that Chrift
pias will come on the 25th December now
©nluing, and knowing that the wants of
ihe citizens will be great to make merry
•n the occasion, I have thought fit, by and
with the advice of Council, to issue this
my proclamation, forwaming all persons
who have felt, or more properly, coifie un-,
der the bast of former notice#, -not to ap
ply for any good things, for that day, un
less they should previously find a sale for
their cotton or rice. And I also forwarn
all persons of the above defeription not to
make any further application for aiiy cre
dit whatever, not even for loan of money,
until law and juffice resume their due
