Milledgeville, Dec. 1, P. M.
Tne Houso was not in session to day.
The Senate assembled at its usual hour, Col.
Lawson, of Burke, presiding, at the request of tho
President.
Nearly the whole of the morning hour was con
sumed in a debate consequent on a motion of Mr.
Mil'er’e to roconsider so much of yesterday’s
Journal as referred to the siriaiDg out from tho
Atheus Bank Bill, of tho 18th section, and
au endnuents thereto, offered by the Committee on
Banks.
The 18th section, allndod to, made the stock
hcl ler iiable in proportion to the amount of his
s'fck; bat the committee’s umondments seemed
to make him liable only lor a sum equal to .the
am unt of his stock, and not proportionately. By
general consent, Mr. Millcrso amended as to clear
up all ambiguity, and the section, together with
the amendments of Mr. M., and those of the Bank
Committee, was stricken from the bill, yesterday;
pr or to the insertion of Judge Cones amend
ni.nt*, however, Mr. Miller moved to lay the bill
oii the table for tho present. In this condition it
s. tovernight; ibis morning, by a vote of 48 to
41, its 18th section and amendments wore restored,
by the reconsideration ; so that the bill again pre
sents the same front for Judge Cone’s spirited
attacks which it showed yesterday morning.
On the motion to reconsider, speeches were
made against it by Messrs. Cone of Gro"ne, Mur
phy, and Moore of Lincoln. On tbe other side,
b> Messrs, Miller, Biilups, Buchanan, Popples,
L twton, Ca bone, and McMillun. The debate
took a wide rang , and some asperity of feeling was
manifested by c-no or two of the speakers, which
scorned to mo uncalled for, and unessential to
the ascertainment of correct principles and a
sound bunk basis.
Bills, Ao, Introduced.— By Judge Cone, of
Greono: A Bill incorporating the City of Greens
boro’.
Also, a Bill incorporating a Bank in that city—
to i>o called the “Bank of Greensboro’ ’’—charier
toeXplrA in 1 HQr« • nnpU.nl *9.00.000. Judge Cone
is o* o of the corporators of tho Bank, and lias
preoerved his consistency, and shown his faith in
the soundness of his positions on the Bank ques
tion, by drawing up ti e churter of this Bank in
strict accordance with the amendments offered by
him to the Athens Bank Bill. This fact is a no
ticeable one. While it affords evidence that the
“groat ainender” is sincere in his desire to icau
guratte u now prlnc plo in tho chartering of banks,
it is no moan argument in answer to the alleged
s»nngeucy of his amendments to the Athens B 11.
The people of the “city would
seem, are willing not merely to the Bank, but bo
tmldjJcrd, and do not considet that their inslita
tion *ill bo smothered to death by tfcc.restrictiooa
in i s charter.
By Mr. Sims : A B 11 to incorporate a Bank in
the town of Bainbridge, to be known as tho
“Southern Bank of Georgia.” The charter is

ot such iron has been sold—when sold and how—
whether publicly or privately—to whem sold and
for what price ; also how much remains on hand
unsold ; whether there is any coutraet for o d iron

By Mr. Hays: A BUI to grant State aid to the

miles beyond Americus, the State is to issue her
bonds, in aid, to the a oant ol #120,000 ; there
after, in instalments of $60,000 each, for every

t iirty years to run, payable in New York, and
boar interest ot 6 per cent. The amount of aid

cure tho State from loss, are contained in tho bill.
By Mr. King : A Bill to forfeit the wife’s dower

the husband’s interest in the wife’s ostato, in cer
tain cases. The disabilities of this bill are to apply

may be, who have deserted their partners and so

By Mr. Lawton : A Resolution prohibiting the
c;'.!l for new matter, in the Senate, except on Tues
day and Friday of each week.
By Mr. Long, of Brunswick: A Resolution in
sLuclii g the Secretaiy of tbe Senate to inquire of
tx.e Heuse, if that bod? c-innot make its arrange
meutsto adjourn sine die t ou the 12’h inst. This
resolution is roialiatory on the House, for the lat
ter’s bin. of yesterday, that the Senate was a “slow
coach.”
The lollowing named gentlemen were appointed
a Committee, uuder Mr. Spalding’s resolution, on
ts e bill providing for the pale of tee Western A
Atlantic Railroad, via: Messrs. Spalding, Miller,
Murphy, Lawton, and Moore, of Cobb.
There was no session of the Senato this after
noon, that body having adjourned over to Monday.
MnxEDesviLLE, Deo. 8, 1855.
The President of the Senate, being ab- out for a
few days, Hen. A. J. Miller wa? chosen President
S> o Urn.
The Senate took up the Bill, previously passed
in the House, amendatory of Section Brd, Art. 11l
oi the Constitutio 1. It gives the election of At

to the Superior and Inferior Courts a great portion
(a the peitv business now transacted by the Legis

bridges and ferries, (fee., <fec.
The Senate then took up a pile of Resolutions
which had been for some time accumulating on its
desk, with a view to dispatching them ; but little
p- gress was made, however, many of the Reso
lutions affording room for speeches—to the gr»at
dJight of sundry Senator*!—l presume.
Mr. Atkinson’s Resolution, instructing our dele

at Brunswick, taken up and agreed to. Mr.
bpekttng offer-.d a substitute, providing fer ai ew

of Sapeio had been favorably reported on. Sub

Mr. Pope’s Kesolut ; oc, thut r.o r should
speak ftec r than once, or longer than fifteen
minutes on any one subject. Last. (The Senate
had no notion of it)
Mr. Peeples, Chairman pro Um of the Internal
Improvement Committee, reported very favorably
on the Bill to g-ve Slate aid to the Brunswick
read. Bill and Report made the special order for
Friday next.
Mr. Fambro’s Resolution in reference to old
iron taken up ou the State .oad t-ince iast session.
Agreed to.
The Governor transmitted to the Senate under
Jadge Cone’s Resolat on, the returns of t e At
lanta Bank.
The afternoon was spent in n very warm debate
ou the House Resolution, appointing a Joint Com
mittee to visit the State road, thoroughly investi
gate its afifai- s, and m£ke an expose thereof. The
debate was enlivened with several sharp shots, the
parties engaged, having allowed their political feel
ings 13 sway them to a considerable extent- A
motion to postpone the Resolution to Friday next,
and then take it up as tha special order, was lest.
Aye? 40—Nays 44 —to postpone indefinitely. Lost

men onpo?ed the Resolution—Messrs. Spalding,
Lang, murphy, Wingfield,McMahan and Buchanar;
in its favor, Messrs. Pope, Hill, Well borne, Cal
houn, Cone, of Gre ne, Moore, or Lincoln, Knight
and Gibson. Mr. Spalding chiefly argued against
the extraordinary powers of the committee, wnich
he characterised as outrageous (if I rightly under
stood hiui) as towards the Executive ol tbe Stale.

the notice and credulity of the puffering, this is a female
remedy exclusively; and one that can be relied on for the
cure and relief of most of the complaints peculiar to fe
males. It s wel known to Physicians that muah of the r

their peculiar seasons, and that false delicacy often ti -
ters them from seeking relief. The Philotoken is infallible
