than twenty-seven hundred in number, and if
would not be extravagant to put them down at an
average 0f520,000 each, which would give an ag

A Pkiu'etual Govkknor.—lt seems that owing

PERRY DAVIS PAIN KILLER Thousands of per- ,

-immense amount of suffering has been relieved by it.
It. proprietors. Messrs. Perry Davis Sc B©n. save no
pains or expense in order to satisfy the public. Being
strictly honorable men, they observe the utmost uniform
ity in the manufacture of their celebrated Pain Killer.
The materials of which it is composed are carefully se
lected—none but the best quamy being used. By these
means, the high reputation which the Pain Killer has
long since acquired, is at alttimes triumphantly sustained.
In view of these facts, we are by no means surprised to
learn that Messr*. Davis Sc Sou's sales are constantly in
creasing. While we congratulate our friends generally
that so valuable a preparation as the Pain Killer is placed
within their reach, w e must be permitted to rejoice at
the well merited success of its liberal and enterprising
proprietors.—Providence General Advertiser.
Ferry Davis' Vegetable Pain Killer.—Volunta
ry. conscientiously, and with much pleasure, we recom
mend to our readers the above named medicine W e
»peak from our own observation and experience, when
we say that it removes pain as if by magic, from a part s
of the bodv. and is the best remedy in use for checking
diarrhea and removing the premonitory symptoms of
cholera. It is applied both internally and externally,
with the best effects, and none who have used the Pain
Killer would be willingly without it constantly in their
houses—Cincinnati Evening Nonpareil.
We are glad to learn that the Pain Killer (Perry Da
vis’) is having so large a -ale in our city. We have
every reason to believe it to be almost never failing cure
for pain, and as such is a medicine no family should be
without.—Montreal Pilot. &
Davis' Pais Killer —Whatever may be the preju
dice entertained against a great many patent medicines,
we can ourselves bear testimony to the efficy of this ar
ticle. We have seen its magic effect in soothing the se
verest pain, in a great many cases, and knew it to be a
good article for the uses and purposes to which it is de
voted, and even in cases where it may not prove infalli

A CURE FOP. DYSPEPSIA.
SCIENTIFIC men have more difficulty in overcom-
O ing and controlling the various symptoms of Dyspep
sia, than almost any disease in the world. They are so
various in different individuals and cases, that it has
seemed impossible sometimes to obtain even temporary
olief from suffering. But a medicine has been discover
ed, which proves beyond a doubt, that in most cases a
permanent cure can be effected.
Dr. H. E. Morrill, a skilful physician of New-York city,
in his remarks on Dyspepsia, says: “ The most effectual
medicine to improve the tone and energy of the stomach,
is that prepared by Dr. George B. Green, and ca the
OXYGENATED BITTERS.
I would publish the recipe for preparing this valuable
medicine, if I knew what it was ; but as I do not, I can
only recommend its m>e. It seems to me to be improper
ly called ‘ Bitters,' at least in the popular acceptation of
that term —for it contains no alcohol or other spirit, and is
rather sour than bitter. Though here, by the way, I can
not but earnestly caution the dyspeptic sufferer against
using ‘ Bitters,’ the which is aleohol or other ar
dent spirits. They no moi e impart real energy to the
stomach than a whip gives strength to a horse. The
stimulation which they excite is only temporary, and
sure to be followed by a reaction, which at length will
Inevitably wear out the stomach. The medicine of
which I am speaking, obviates these objections. ’
We have no hesitation in pronouncing the BITTERS
a sure cure for Dyspepsia. None except those who
have suffered all the miseries of this disease, in its vari
ous forms, can appreciate the value of such a medicine.
Symptoms of the most discouraging nature force the suf
ferer t j believe tb&t his case is so peculiar that no medi
cine can reach it. To all who reason thus, we say, try
the OXYGENATED BITTERS—they have received
the highest testimonials ever given in favor of any medi
cine. Prepared by Dr. GEORGE B. GREEN.

DENNIS’ ALTERATIVE,

} >RK PAH ED J>yJ. DENNIS, M. D. t Augusta, Ga.,
for Diseases of the Liver and to Purify the Blood.
It contains, in addition to Sarsaparilla, the hydro-alco
holic extract ol Queen’s Delight, (Stillingia) White Ash,
Grey Beard or Fringe Tree, (Ohiouanthus) Tincture of
May Apple or Mandrake, (Podophyllum) and Blood
, Root, (Bang u maria.)
1 n tuna 11 doses i: act. a . atfpl lc ra tivc or laxative, i n
larger dose* as a mild purgative -with some as an active
purgative.
A.s an alterative or laxative, it has boeu found useful
in Constipation of the Bowels, Jaundice,_ Bilious Fever,
Fever and Ague, Sick Headache, Dizziness, various Fe
male Complaints, Chronic Affections of the Liver, second
ary Syphilis and Syphiloid Diseases, Scrofulous Artec
t ion; 3 , Sores, Ulcers, Blotches, Cutaneous Eruptions, or
Diseases of the Skin, and all othcrdiscases in which Sar
saparilla or alterative medicines arc indicated.
That it acts upon the Liver, may be known from the
fact, that in Jaundice, or cases of Biliousness, it causes
free bilious evacuations, readily removes unnatural yel
low tinge about the eyes and upon the skin, and im
proves the health and spirits.
In Cutaneous Eruptions, Blotches, Pimples, and other
diseases pf the skin, it causes the disappearance of the
, Blotches, Pimples, &c., and greatly improves the com
-1 plexion.
, As a diet drink, it keeps the bowels free, the liver
healthy, and the blood pure.
Its healthy action on the liver, and purifying effect up
on the blood, make it a great safeguard against disease;

an irritant to worms and prevents their accumulation.

gard them as the best and most efficient agents in the

OR SORGHO SUCRE—PURE SEED!
rl' H K subscribers take great pleasure in informing the
X Planters, Fanners and Gardener* of the South, that
they have secured from the most reliable aourcos a lim
ited supply of FRESH SEED of this very valuab:»
plant. th«> properties of which may be briefly summed
up m follows:
lat. One acre of the stalks, properly cultivated, will !
yield from 400 to 500 gallons of fine SYRUP, equal to the :
best New Orleans ; and from the same roots, a second
crop of excellent Fodder.
2d. Sown broadcast or in close drills, on land deep
ly plowed and highly manured, it will yield from
thirty to fifty thousand pounds of Suporior Fodder to the
acre.
3d. It surpasses all other plants for soiling (feeding ;
green) and fodder, on account of the great abundance cf
sagary Juice which it contains, and is greedily eaten by j
stock of all kinds.
4th. It bears repeated cuttings, like Egyptian Millet, ,
growing off freely and rapidly after each cutting.
sth. It stands drouth much better than common corn !
retaining its green color and juiciness even after the seed [
matures.
6th. The seed is excellent for human food when ground j
into meal, and fattens domestic animals very speedily. ,v
From twenty live to seventy live bushels can be raised i
oo an acre.
7th. It is so certain and prolific a crop that planters •
may be sure of succeeding with it as a Sugar plant any- j
where South of Maryland and North of Mexico. If plant- j
<«d early in the Sothern States, the seed will mature aud j
produce another crop the same season.
'J ’he seed, which has been carefully kept pure. .
