regulate Hie nomination ol Brigadier Uonerala, the
object of which is to ptvu to each State something
like u quota of such officers. He called attention
to the tact that Virginia had tweutv seveu in the
field, whi e Alabama bod but five, three of whom
only were really from Alabama. Gens. Rhodes
and Ledbetter were appointed Irom Alabama, but
were not iu fact from that State. Alabama ha 1

hundred companies, and various battalions. lie
